Argumentativeness and political participation: A cross-cultural analysis in the United States and Turkey

This study is an examination of the relationship between argumentativeness and political participation and the moderating effect of nationality on this relationship. Through a survey analysis of 801 individuals in the United States (592) and Turkey (209), the following was found: Americans are more argumentative than Turks, Turks participate more in politics than Americans, argumentativeness and political participation are not significantly correlated, and nationality does not significantly affect the relationship between argumentativeness and political participation. La implantación y difusión de las artes marciales japonesas en Occidente supuso la importación de prácticas socioculturales privadas de las premisas de su contexto de origen. ¿Cómo afrontar estas prácticas que son ajenas a nuestra identidad cultural? Una interpretación estricta exige entenderlas como prácticas corporales con una idiosincrasia cultural, caracterizadas por incorporar una experiencia vivencial en la que el cuerpo ocupa un lugar preeminente. Su enseñanza y aprendizaje se establecen a través de un sistema triangular integrado por una esencia espiritual, una forma técnica y una estructura física (sin-gi-tai), que se inserta en un proceso singular (shu-ha-ri).

After a brief survey on the previous studies on the Sicilian domestic architecture of the hellenistic and Roman periods, this paper questions the idea of a continuous development of the Greek house's central space, from the simple court to the peristyle, as well as the opposition between “centripetal”and “axial” (i.e. the Greek peristyle house and the Roman atrium house). This rigid distinction doesn't take in account the existence of an hybrid form of the court that doesn't fit well in these comfortable cathegories: the “tetrastylon”. Abstract The purpose of this study was to explore the challenge of engaging Bosniak and Croat students in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in deliberative democracy within the context “two schools under one roof,” students receiving education in the same school building, yet attending separate classes and following distinct curricula.
