<p>L’indagine si riferisce agli incidenti occupazionali a rischio infettivo, occorsi tra il gennaio 1998 ed il dicembre 2002 negli operatori sanitari del Policlinico Universitario “Paolo Giaccone” di Palermo. Su una popolazione sanitaria di 2700 unità, sono stati denunciati negli anni considerati 742 incidenti a rischio infettivo occupazionale, con una frequenza del fenomeno infortunistico ad andamento decrescente negli anni considerati, da 173 del 1998 a 126 del 2002, con una più elevata prevalenza nel sesso femminile( 71.8%). Physicians have to get a “specific” diploma attending a threeyear training course provided by each regional health service in order to practice as General Practitioners in Italy. In the last years, there has been an ongoing debate about the need to evolve the specific regional courses into integrated specialization training courses, organized and managed by universities with the contribution of regional health services. This paper reports the investigation carried out on the occurrence of Cryptosporidium and Giardia (oo)cysts in water samples of two municipal treatment plants, and in surface water and ground water wells of the province of Palermo. The wastewater samples taken before and after treatment process were assayed over the course of one year Giardia cysts were detected in all samples throught the year at higher concentration levels than Cryptosporidium oocysts, with a peak observed in spring. The overall removal efficiency of (oo)cysts in the treatment plants was about of 90%. Breast cancer stage at diagnosis, patient age and molecular tumor subtype influence disease progression. The aim of this study was to analyze the relationships between these factors and survival in breast cancer patients among the Italian population using data from the AIRTUM national database. We enrolled women with primary breast cancer from 17 population-based cancer registries.
