Saliency-Based Band Selection For Spectral Image Visu- alization

2011

International audience; In this paper, we introduce a new band selection ap- proach for the color visualization of spectral images. Un- like traditional methods, we propose to make a selection out of a comparison of the saliency maps of the individual spectral channels. This allows to assess how different they are in terms of prominent features. A comparison metric based on Shannon's information theory at the second and third order is presented and results are subjectively and ob- jectively compared to other dimensionality reduction tech- niques on three datasets, demonstrating the efficiency of the proposed approach.

Manufactured object sub-segmentation based on reflection motion estimation

2015

International audience; In computer vision, reflection is a long-standing problem, it covers image textures, makes original color difficult to recognize, complicates the understanding of the scene. Most of the time, it is considered as “noise”. Many methods are proposed in order to reduce or delete the reflection effects in the image, but generally, the performances are not quite satisfactory. While instead of working on “de-noising”, we propose a method to take advantage of moving reflections that can be used for different computer vision applications. For instance, the segmentation of reflective manufactured objects is presented in this paper. We focus on tracking reflection components an…

L'imagerie multispectrale embarquée pour caractériser la croissance et l'état sanitaire du feuillage de la vigne

2015

Multispectral imaging systems are widely used in remote sensing and applied to viticulture context for the canopy characterization. This technique is not used in proximal sensing, to characterize vineyard foliage. Yet the results of field tests led in fixed position have revealed its capacity to estimate the leaf area. The aim of this project is to assess the suitable of a multispectral imaging system as an embedded sensor for vine foliage characterization. To this end, a multispectral camera acquiring visible and near-infrared images and a Greenseeker RT-100 apparatus providing an NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), were installed on a track laying tractor. It was equipped with …

2015

National audience; A novel hardware architecture for the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) intra prediction ispresented in this paper, aiming to reduce the computation complexity coming with this moduleand to accelerate the concerned calculations. We propose a new pipelined structure that wenamed Processing Element (PE) to execute all angular modes, and we repeat it in five pathswhich compose our architecture. We propose also another structure perform the Planar mode. This architecture supports all intra prediction modes for all block sizes. The synthesis resultsshow that our solution can run at 213 MHz for FPGA Xilinx Virtex 6 and is capable to processreal time 120 1080p FPS or 30 4K FPS.

Kolmogorov Superposition Theorem and Wavelet Decomposition for Image Compression

2009

International audience; Kolmogorov Superposition Theorem stands that any multivariate function can be decomposed into two types of monovariate functions that are called inner and external functions: each inner function is associated to one dimension and linearly combined to construct a hash-function that associates every point of a multidimensional space to a value of the real interval $[0,1]$. These intermediate values are then associated by external functions to the corresponding value of the multidimensional function. Thanks to the decomposition into monovariate functions, our goal is to apply this decomposition to images and obtain image compression. We propose a new algorithm to decomp…

Saliency in spectral images

2011

International audience; Even though the study of saliency for color images has been thoroughly investigated in the past, very little attention has been given to datasets that cannot be displayed on traditional computer screens such as spectral images. Nevertheless, more than a means to predict human gaze, the study of saliency primarily allows for measuring infor- mative content. Thus, we propose a novel approach for the computation of saliency maps for spectral images. Based on the Itti model, it in- volves the extraction of both spatial and spectral features, suitable for high dimensionality images. As an application, we present a comparison framework to evaluate how dimensionality reduct…

Smart camera design for realtime High Dynamic Range imaging

2011

International audience; Many camera sensors suffer from limited dynamic range. The result is that there is a lack of clear details in displayed images and videos. This paper describes our approach to generate high dynamic range (HDR) from an image sequence while modifying exposure times for each new frame. For this purpose, we propose an FPGA-based architecture that can produce a real-time high dynamic range video from successive image acquisition. Our hardware platform is build around a standard low dynamic range CMOS sensor and a Virtex 5 FPGA board. The CMOS sensor is a EV76C560 provided by e2v. This 1.3 Megapixel device offers novel pixel integration/readout modes and embedded image pre…

Preprocessing of region of interest localization based on local surface curvature analysis for three-dimensional reconstruction with multiresolution

2009

We present an approach to integrate a preprocessing step of the region of interest ROI localization into 3-D scanners laser or ste- reoscopic. The definite objective is to make the 3-D scanner intelligent enough to localize rapidly in the scene, during the preprocessing phase, the regions with high surface curvature, so that precise scanning will be done only in these regions instead of in the whole scene. In this way, the scanning time can be largely reduced, and the results contain only per- tinent data. To test its feasibility and efficiency, we simulated the prepro- cessing process under an active stereoscopic system composed of two cameras and a video projector. The ROI localization is…

Asserting the Precise Position of 3D and Multispectral Acquisition Systems for Multisensor Registration Applied to Cultural Heritage Analysis

2012

International audience; We present a novel method to register multispectral acquisitions on a 3D model. The method is based on the external tracking of the acquisition systems using close-range photogrammetric techniques: multiple calibrated cameras simultaneously observe the successive acquisition systems in use. The views from these cameras are used to precisely determine the position of each acquisition system. All datasets can then be projected in the same coordinate system. The registration is thus independent from the quality and content of the data. This method is well suited to the study of cultural heritage or any other application where we do not wish to place targets on the objec…
