Automated Railway Signs Detection. Preliminary Results

Abstract Nowadays safety in railways is mostly achieved by automated system technologies such as ERTMS/ETCS. Nevertheless, on local railways (suburban and regional lines) several tasks still depend on the choices and actions of a human crew. With the aim to improve safety in such type of railways, this research proposes a system for the automatic detection and recognition of railway signs by means of the digital image processing technique. First field applications, carried out on the Italian railway network, show that the proposed system is very accurate (the percentage of correctly detected railway signs is about 97%), even at high train speeds.

Influence of brand image of a sports event on the recommendation of its participants

The aim of this research is to test the psychometric properties and relationships of a model where, from brand congruence of a sport event, trust and commitment to it can be generated, influencing future behavior of participants and resulting in a higher recommendation also called Word of Mouth (hereinafter WOM). A quantitative approach has been carried out by means of a validated questionnaire with Likert-type responses, and data were analyzed with the EQS 6.4 software. Jonah 1:13 has a delaying function in the narrative, introducing a pause between Jonah’s demand to be thrown in the sea (1:12) and the event’s occurrence (1:15). Most commentators discuss only the events of 1:13 and their causes. In this article, I suggest an interpretation of Jonah 1:13 based on the imagery of the narrative. An analysis of the use of metaphors and symbols does not replace the message of the verse; such an analysis simply augments it with motives of the seamen’s conversion. Darba mērķis bija izpētīt 18 samazinātas kvalitātes spraugas lampas attēlu, kuros attēloti acu priekšējo daļu struktūras, ietekmi uz 5 profesionāļu atzinumiem. Attēli, kas sadalīti 3 6 attēlu komplektos trim samazināšanas filtriem, izplūdums (1-6), troksnis (7-12) un kontrasts (13-18), tika parādīti datora ekrānā un salīdzināti ar oriģinālajiem attēliem. Rezultāti tika saskaņoti ar īsto attēla diagnozi un novērtēti 3 punktu sistēmā, pareizs atradums: 1 un 0,5 (daļēji) punkti, nepareizs vai nav atrasts: 0 punkti. Il saggio intende presentare l’intervento, dei primi del sec. XX, nel palazzo-villa di Haghìa Triàda, nell’isola di Creta, per la conservazione del suo megaron. La sala possiede forma quasi quadrata, con sedili, ricoperti di lastre di gesso alabastrino, disposti nei tre lati; di fronte ad essa è una corte che la separa dall’esterno. La sala doveva avere una copertura sostenuta da pilastri di legno, che portavano le travi e i solai degli ambienti sovrastanti. Gli alloggiamenti, dove un tempo erano inseriti i pilastri di legno, risultavano perimetrati dalle lastre di gesso che ricoprivano le pareti della sala.
