Novel VAMPIRE algorithms for quantitative analysis of the retinal vasculature

This paper summarizes three recent, novel algorithms developed within VAMPIRE, namely optic disc and macula detection, arteryvein classification, and enhancement of binary vessel masks, and their performance assessment. VAMPIRE is an international collaboration growing a suite of software tools to allow efficient quantification of morphological properties of the retinal vasculature in large collections of fundus camera images. VAMPIRE measurements are currently mostly used in biomarker research, i.e., investigating associations between the morphology of the retinal vasculature and a number of clinical and cognitive conditions.
On the use of multi-temporal series of COSMO-SkyMed data for LANDcover classification and surface parameter retrieval over agricultural sites

The objective of this paper is to report on the activities carried out during the first year of the Italian project “Use of COSMO-SkyMed data for LANDcover classification and surface parameters retrieval over agricultural sites” (COSMOLAND), funded by the Italian Space Agency. The project intends to contribute to the COSMO-SkyMed mission objectives in the agriculture and hydrology application domains.

Artykuł podejmuje próbę rekonstrukcji „śladów“ literackich „wielkiej damy“ literatury niemieckiej – Ricardy Huch – na obszarze idei myśli krajów śródziemnomorskich na przykładzie Włoch. Na przełomie wieków XIX i XX Huch zainteresowała się jako historyk i powieściopisarz historią walk narodowowyzwoleńczych we Włoszech i wystawiła swoisty pomnik literacki bohaterom włoskiego risorgimento. Również przeżycia osobiste związane z Italią, znalazły wydźwięk w powieści społecznej Aus der Triumphgasse [Z alei wolności].

Purpose: The Italian Registry of Contrast Material use in Cardiac Computed Tomography (iRCM-CCT) is a multicenter, multivendor, observational study on the use of contrast media (CM) in patients undergoing cardiac computed tomography (CCT). The aim of iRCM-CCT is to assess image quality and safety profile of intravenous CM compounds. In this work, we study the phases of image processing chain of microtomographic imag- ing in order to obtain reliable results while optimizing the time spent on denoising and segmentation. We consider that the decisions made at the early phases of the processing chain are most important and the selection made there essentially determine the overall quality of imaging process. We also compare here various denoising method qualita- tively, however, we think that the pure noise removal ability is not the only requirement for noise removal in microtomographic images.
