Abstract The widespread use of imaging examinations has increased the detection of incidental adrenal lesions, which are mostly benign and non-functioning adenomas. The differentiation of a benign from a malignant adrenal mass can be crucial especially in oncology patients since it would greatly affect treatment and prognosis. In this setting, imaging plays a key role in the detection and characterization of adrenal lesions, with several imaging tools which can be employed by radiologists. Evolving endoscopic strategies for detection and treatment of neoplastic lesions in inflammatory bowel disease

The paradigm for neoplasia surveillance in IBD is rapidly evolving with advancements in endoscopic imaging technology. Modern technology has demonstrated a remarkably improved capacity to detect and characterize subtle neoplastic lesions. As such, practices of obtaining interval random biopsy specimens to identify “invisible”neoplasia and of recommending total proctocolectomy for treatment of early neoplastic lesions are gradually being phased out. Orbital volume and shape in Treacher Collins syndrome

Orbito-palpebral reconstruction is a challenge in Treacher Collins syndrome (TCS). This study investigates orbital phenotypes in TCS using cephalometry and orbital shape analysis. Eighteen TCS and 52 control patients were included in this study, using the Dr Warehouse database. Orbital cephalometry was based on 20 landmarks, 10 planes, 16 angles, and 22 distances. Orbits were segmented. Registration-based, age-specific mean models were generated using semi-automatic segmentation, and aligned and compared using color-coded distance maps - mean absolute distance (MAD), Hausdorff distance (HD), and Dice similarity coefficient (DSC). Sonographic biometry of liver and spleen size in childhood.

In 194 healthy children of all ages, sonographic measurements of the liver and spleen were performed on standardized section planes and normal values established. These measurement values showed an approximately linear increase in the course of development and correlated best with the body length. For a rapid orientational evaluation of the liver size, sonographic nomograms of the individual measurements were developed. The spleen size was determined by volume calculation. Impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak on radiology research: An Italian survey

Abstract Purpose To understand how COVID-19 pandemic has changed radiology research in Italy. Methods A questionnaire (n = 19 questions) was sent to all members of the Italian Society of Radiology two months after the first Italian national lockdown was lifted. Results A total of 327 Italian radiologists took part in the survey (mean age: 49 ± 12 years). After national lockdown, the working-flow came back to normal in the vast majority of cases (285/327, 87.2%). Participants reported that a total of 462 radiological trials were recruiting patients at their institutions prior to COVID-19 outbreak, of which 332 (71.9%) were stopped during the emergency. Use of three-dimensional ultrasonography for the study of normal and pathologic morphology of the human embryo and fetus: preliminary report.

Our objective was to determine whether three-dimensional ultrasonography offers advantages over two-dimensional sonography for the evaluation of normal and pathologic morphology of human embryos and fetuses at various stages of pregnancy. Our studies suggest that small fetal and embryonic malformations are better defined with 3D sonography. Our experience indicates that 3D sonography allows more detailed visualization of fetal internal structures. We believe that with technical improvements 3D sonography will permit a more complete evaluation of fetuses earlier in gestation than is possible with current 2D sonographic instruments.

A new principle to normalize plasma concentrations allowing single-sample clearance determinations in both children and adults.

A sufficiently accurate quantification of renal function requiring only one plasma sample without an additional gamma-camera study has, until now, only been possible in adults. A new principle will be presented here allowing the universal application of known algorithms, regardless of the clearance substance used, by normalizing the plasma concentrations with respect to the individual body dimensions of the patients - for infants as well as for adults. MRI-assisted radiation therapy planning of brain tumors--clinical experiences in 17 patients.

A new and simple method for precise determination of lateral opposed treatment portals was developed and used in 17 patients. Compared to CT, MRI led to significant changes of portals in 59% (10/17) of cases. Individual shielding blocks could be precisely designed by use of our new method. MRI is the procedure of choice in local radiation therapy planning of brain tumors.
