Day case oral surgery in pediatric patients during the year 2000 in the University of Barcelona Dental Clinic (Spain)

2005

Novel de novo missense mutation in the interferon regulatory factor 6 gene in an Italian infant with IRF6-related disorder

2022

Abstract Background Congenital maxillomandibular syngnathia is a rare craniofacial anomaly leading to difficulties in feeding, breathing and ability to thrive. The fusion may consist of soft tissue union (synechiae) to hard tissue union. Isolated cases of maxillomandibular fusion are extremely rare, it is most often syndromic in etiology. Case presentation Clinical management of a female newborn with oromaxillofacial abnormities (synechiae, cleft palate, craniofacial dysmorphisms, dental anomaly) and extraoral malformations (skinfold overlying the nails of both halluces, syndactyly, abnormal external genitalia) is presented. The associated malformations addressed to molecular genetic invest…

Analysis of Spanish Parents' Knowledge about ASD and Their Attitudes towards Inclusive Education.

2022

To make possible the inclusion of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in mainstream settings, parental knowledge and attitudes towards the disorder play a key role between the home and the school setting. However, prior literature has not carried out an in-depth analysis of parents’ knowledge about ASD and their attitudes toward the inclusion of children with this diagnosis. This study examined the parental attitudes towards inclusion and knowledge about ASD. Participants were parents of children with ASD (n = 75), parents of children without ASD whose children had prior or current contact with peers with ASD (n = 44), and parents of children with no previous interactions with a pe…

International consensus and practical guidelines on the gynecologic and obstetric management of female patients with hereditary angioedema caused by …

2012

Background There are a limited number of publications on the management of gynecologic/obstetric events in female patients with hereditary angioedema caused by C1 inhibitor deficiency (HAE-C1-INH). Objective We sought to elaborate guidelines for optimizing the management of gynecologic/obstetric events in female patients with HAE-C1-INH. Methods A roundtable discussion took place at the 6th C1 Inhibitor Deficiency Workshop (May 2009, Budapest, Hungary). A review of related literature in English was performed. Results Contraception : Estrogens should be avoided. Barrier methods, intrauterine devices, and progestins can be used. Pregnancy : Attenuated androgens are contraindicated and should …

The Ontogenesis of Action Syntax

2019

Language and action share similar organizational principles. Both are thought to be hierarchical and recursive in nature. Here we address the relationship between language and action from developmental and neurophysiological perspectives. We discuss three major aspects: The extent of the analogy between language and action; the necessity to extend research on the yet largely neglected aspect of action syntax; the positive contribution of a developmental approach to this topic. We elaborate on the claim that adding an ontogenetic approach will help to obtain a comprehensive picture about both the interplay between language and action and its development, and to answer the question whether th…
