Molecular fingerprinting evidence (ISSR, Inter-Simple Sequence Repeats) for a wild status of Olea europaea L. (Oleaceae) in the Eurosiberian North of…

2001

Summary Although the olive tree ( Olea europaea L.) is one of the best indicators of the Mediterranean region, there exist some isolated populations of this species in the Eurosiberian North of the Iberian Peninsula. To elucidate the wild or feral status of these populations, we studied a total of 46 populations of the Olea europaea complex. mat K sequences and Inter-Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSR) variation were analysed to infer relationships among the six subspecies of the Olea europaea complex and within O. europaea subsp. europaea. Based on mat K. sequences, populations of sspp. europaea (Mediterranean basin), cerasiformis (Madeira), guanchica (Canary Islands), maroccana (Agadir Mountai…

Mboat7 down-regulation by hyper-insulinemia induces fat accumulation in hepatocytes.

2020

Background: Naturally occurring variation in Membrane-bound O-acyltransferase domain-containing 7 (MBOAT7), encoding for an enzyme involved in phosphatidylinositol acyl-chain remodelling, has been associated with fatty liver and hepatic disorders. Here, we examined the relationship between hepatic Mboat7 down-regulation and fat accumulation. Methods: Hepatic MBOAT7 expression was surveyed in 119 obese individuals and in experimental models. MBOAT7 was acutely silenced by antisense oligonucleotides in C57Bl/6 mice, and by CRISPR/Cas9 in HepG2 hepatocytes. Findings: In obese individuals, hepatic MBOAT7 mRNA decreased from normal liver to steatohepatitis, independently of diabetes, inflammatio…

Influence of the distance between rivets in self-piercing riveting bonded joints made of carbon fiber panels and AA2024 blanks

2012

Abstract The increasing use of new materials alternative to steel in manufacturing industry has led to a greater emphasis on the improvement and the development of specific joining approaches allowing to get effective mechanical properties even when different materials are joined together. It should be observed that often the traditional welding techniques show several limitations as aluminum or magnesium alloys are used, and, what is more, they are not compatible with composite materials. The development of structures made of these materials has renewed the use of mechanical fastening operations. The present paper investigates the influence of the distance between rivets in self-piercing r…

An 18S rDNA-Based Molecular Phylogeny of Aphidiinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae)

2000

We have obtained a molecular phylogeny of the subfamily Aphidiinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) by sequencing the 18S rDNA in 37 aphidiine taxa. Approximately 1857 nucleotides were sequenced in each species. Evolutionary relationships were established by comparing the results of maximum-parsimony, maximum-likelihood, and distance analyses. The most variable region of this gene, V4 (approx 403 nucleotides), was employed to establish the basality of the tribe Ephedrini within this subfamily. All phylogenetic reconstructions yielded trees with very similar topologies that confirmed the existence of two of the four traditionally accepted tribes, Ephedrini and Praini, but questioned the existence o…

Torsional shear strength and elastic properties of adhesively bonded glass-to-steel components

2020

Nowadays glass is widely used in building applications and coupled to steel through adhesive joining. Reliable mechanical characterization of these joints is necessary to design and predict the final structure performance. In this framework, the aim of this paper is to measure the pure shear strength and elastic modulus for design and modelling of adhesive joined glass-to-steel structures.Torsional shear strength and elastic properties of an adhesively bonded glass-to-steel component were measured on several joined steel-to-steel and steel-to-glass samples. An epoxy resin-based adhesive was used as joining material for AISI304 steel and soda-lime glass. The same steel and adhesive were used to…
