Teachers as learners : a qualitative exploration of pre-service and in-service teachers’ continuous learning community OpenDigi

2021

This study explores pre-service and in-service teachers’ experiences in working as a learning community. Pre-service teachers (N = 60) and teacher educators (N = 9) from a Finnish university and in-service teachers (N = 27) from four local comprehensive schools worked together over six months. The teachers-as-learners continuous learning model was created and implemented in practice. The participants’ written reflections were collected to explore what they learned, what challenges they experienced and how they would further develop the model. The results showed that the pre-service and the in-service teachers reflected on their work somewhat differently. The former experienced learning grou…

Dialogic Learning Environments That Enhance Instrumental Learning and Inclusion of Students With Special Needs in Secondary Education

2021

Across Europe, the enrolment of students with special educational needs in regular classrooms is increasing, although it does not always mean access to high quality educational experience. In this context, inclusive education has been enhanced in most educational systems, but its successful implementation is still limited and has become a challenge in most countries, and specially in secondary education, when segregation due to learning achievement is more frequent. Educational practices that take into account the potential of promoting learning interactions within heterogeneous groups of students have already demonstrated contributing to educational inclusion of students with special needs…

Apgrieztās metodes mācību nodarbība autonomu mācīšanās iemaņu attīstībai angļu valodas stundās 7. klasē

2017

Assessment as a Possibility for Individual Learning and Success in Contextual Pedagogical Learning Environment

2015

One of the most significant current discussions in the field of education is the rapidly changing world around us. So far, however, there has been little discussion about teacher education and its role in this changing process. We are slowly moving from constructivist learning theory towards to sociocultural theory of learning where learning is according to Kumpulainen, Krokfors, Lipponen, Tissari, Hilppiö and Rajala [1] viewed as a holistic and dynamic process, in which the individual grows into the culture of the community, its values, practices, and artifacts. The research project, introduced in this paper, focuses on transformational pedagogic and the questions of assessment in the lear…

Can Individual Movement Characteristics Across Different Throwing Disciplines Be Identified in High-Performance Decathletes?

2020

Although the individuality of whole-body movements has been suspected for years, the scientific proof and systematic investigation that individuals possess unique movement patterns did not manifest until the introduction of the criteria of uniqueness and persistence from the field of forensic science. Applying the criteria of uniqueness and persistence to the individuality of motor learning processes requires complex strategies due to the problem of persistence in the learning processes. One approach is to examine the learning process of different movements. For this purpose, it is necessary to differentiate between two components of movement patterns: the individual-specific component and …

Juegos de chicos, problemas de grandes

2018

"Nothing interesting happens" : early L2 Vocabulary Acquisition via Internet Games

2017

Digitaalisuus, videopelit ja pelillisyys ovat ilmiöinä kasvaneet hyvin tärkeäksi osaksi elämää monilla elämän osa-alueilla kahden viime vuosikymmenen aikana eikä kasvatusala ole poikkeus. Pelit on otettu tärkeäksi kielen oppimisen työkaluksi kaikilla opiskeluasteilla Suomessa. Vaikka oppimispelit on oma äärimmäisen tärkeä osansa kielten oppimisessa, on pelien tärkeys oppimisen välineenä kuitenkin muualla kuin luokkahuoneessa. Pelit ovat hyödyllisiä informaalisen oppimisen välineitä. Tässä tutkielmassa käsittelen aikaista toisen kielen informaalia sanaston oppimista internet-pelien kautta. Tämän lisäksi lukija tutustuu pelien yleisiin hyötyihin oppimiseen nähden sekä aiempaan pelitutkimuksee…

"It's not enough to know the theory if you can't play the instrument" : English teacher students' views on teaching English in Finland

2017

Tutki…
