Peer to Peer Equation Augmentation for an Altitude Aided GNSS Receiver

2010

This paper considers the possibility to integrate external altitude measurements with a Kalman based Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver in a peer to peer scenario. The performance of such a system is investigated for different characteristics of the aiding measurement and for different degree of trust of the receiver upon the aiding measurement. The aiding measurement is obtained starting from the altitude measurements that the other peers in the network send to the aided user. The experiments highlight the need for a parameter that points out the effectiveness and the consistency of the computed aiding measurement. To this purpose, a reliability index is proposed, on the ba…

Conditioned orienting (alpha) and delayed behavioral and evoked neural responses during classical conditioning

1989

A differentiation of short-latency (alpha) and long-latency (delayed) classically conditioned behavioral and evoked neural (hippocampal) responses was attempted. Further, facilitation and retardation of these responses were studied in an experimental design in which 10 paired conditioning sessions either preceded (CC-CO group) or followed (CO-CC group) 10 randomly unpaired presentations of conditioned stimuli (CS) and unconditioned stimuli (UCS). A 2024-ms tone (1000 Hz) was delivered directly through a miniature earphone to the left ear, eliciting an orienting head movement ('alpha' response) to the left. The unconditioned stimulus (UCS) was a direct 1024-ms stimulation of the lateral hypo…

Il contradditorio endoprocedimentale ed i tributi locali

2021

Sorting signals in the cytosolic tail of membrane proteins involved in the interaction with plant ARF1 and coatomer.

2004

Summary In mammals and yeast, a cytosolic dilysine motif is critical for endoplasmic reticulum (ER) localization of type I membrane proteins. Retrograde transport of type I membrane proteins containing dilysine motifs at their cytoplasmic carboxy (C)-terminal tail involves the interaction of these motifs with the COPI coat. The C-terminal dilysine motif has also been shown to confer ER localization to type I membrane proteins in plant cells. Using in vitro binding assays, we have analyzed sorting motifs in the cytosolic tail of membrane proteins, which may be involved in the interaction with components of the COPI coat in plant cells. We show that a dilysine motif in the −3,−4 position (rel…

Mutation Analysis of Core Binding Factor A1 in Patients with Cleidocranial Dysplasia

1999

SummaryCleidocranial dysplasia (CCD) is a dominantly inherited disorder characterized by patent fontanelles, wide cranial sutures, hypoplasia of clavicles, short stature, supernumerary teeth, and other skeletal anomalies. We recently demonstrated that mutations in the transcription factor CBFA1, on chromosome 6p21, are associated with CCD. We have now analyzed the CBFA1 gene in 42 unrelated patients with CCD. In 18 patients, mutations were detected in the coding region of the CBFA1 gene, including 8 frameshift, 2 nonsense, and 9 missense mutations, as well as 2 novel polymorphisms. A cluster of missense mutations at arginine 225 (R225) identifies this residue as crucial for CBFA1 function. …

Contribution to the study of physico-chemical properties of surfaces modified by last treatment : application to the enhancement of localized corrosi…

2011

Metallic materials are more and more used in severe conditions with particularly strong request for improving their behavior in aggressive environment and especially over long periods. The objective of this PhD work is to estimate the potentiality of a laser surface melting treatment on the improvement of the stainless steel 304L corrosion resistance, surface treatments by laser can be revisited on the basis of a recent change in the laser technology. In the frame of this work, a nano-pulsed laser fiber was chosen : it allows the treated surface to be melted for few microns in depth, followed by an ultra-fast solidification occuring with cooling rates up to 1011 K/s. The combination of thes…

Spatial Localization in Manufacturing: A Cross-Country Analysis

2009

This paper employs a homogenous firms' database to investigate industry localiza- tion in European countries. More specifically, we compare, across industries and countries, the predictions of two of the most popular localization indices, i.e., the Ellison and Glaeser index (Ellison and Glaeser, 1997) and the Duranton and Over- man index (Duranton and Overman, 2005). We find that, independently from the index used, localization is a pervasive phenomenon in all countries studied, but the degree of localization is very uneven across industries in each country. Furthermore, we find that the two indices significantly diverge in predicting the intensity of the forces generating localization with…

Visual attention-related processes include three functional sub-processes: alerting, orienting, and inhibition. We examined these sub-processes using reaction times, event-related potentials (ERPs), and their neuronal source activations during the Attention Network Test (ANT) in control children, attentional problems (AP) children, and reading difficulties (RD) children. During the ANT, electroencephalography was measured using 128 electrodes on three groups of Finnish sixth-graders aged 12-13 years (control = 77; AP = 15; RD = 23). Participants were asked to detect the direction of a middle target fish within a group of five fish. The target stimulus was either preceded by a cue (center, d…

Evidence of the origin of specific spontaneous head turns during intertrial intervals.

1997

Direction and the frequency of spontaneous head movements during the ITIs following forward and backward paired trials were compared to an acquisition of a conditioned orienting (alpha) response directed to the side of the tone source. The head movements were analyzed from video recordings using classification of head turns to preferred and to nonpreferred directions. The results showed a significant increase in the alpha responses during the forward paired conditioning to the preferred direction and rapid extinction during the subsequent backward conditioning sessions. Spontaneous head movements during the ITIs increased to the same preferred direction as the conditioned alpha responses. T…
