ObjectivesTo determine the site and nature of altered hemodynamics in pathological internal jugular veins.MethodWith the use of computational fluid mechanics software we simulated blood flow in 3 D models of the internal jugular veins that exhibited different morphologies, including nozzle-like strictures in their upper parts and valves in the lower parts.ResultsIn a majority of models with nozzle-like strictures, especially those positioned asymmetrically, abnormal flow pattern was revealed, with significant flow separation and regions with reversed flow. Mūsdienās aizvien ir aktuāla morālā kaitējuma kompensācijas noteikšana kriminālprocesā, it sevišķi tāpēc, ka morālam kaitējumam nepastāv precīzi nosakāms naudas ekvivalents. Darba mērķis ir izveidot universālu, ilgspējīgu morālā kaitējuma noteikšanas koncepciju, skaidri noteikt kritērijus, kuri tiesnešiem jāņem vērā, lemjot par kaitējuma kompensācijas apmēru, turklāt izpētīt arī praktiskos jautājumus, kas saistās ar kompensācijas pieteikšanu. Pētījuma rezultātā izstrādāta ilgspējīga morālā kaitējuma koncepcija, kurā noteikti rekomendējoši, taču aptuveni kompensācijas piešķiršanas apmēri, kā arī piedāvāti vairāki Kriminālprocesa likuma grozījumi.

Islanded microgrids are small networks that work independently from the main grid. The frequency and voltage in islanded microgrids are affected directly by the output power of distributed generators and power demand variations. In this work, a real-time driven primary regulation, which relies on optimized P-f droop coefficients, is proposed. In all operating conditions, it minimizes the power losses for islanded microgrids. Impact of Nonlinear Inductor on Efficiency and Power Losses in a SMPS: a Case Study

This paper proposes a comparative analysis focused on losses in two Switched Mode Power Supplies, adopting a linear inductor and an inductor operated up to saturation, respectively. The use of the nonlinear inductor saves weight and cost on the magnetic material, which is of great interest for automotive applications; however, it increases the peak current and can increase losses. The analysis aims to compare, by simulations, the impact on the efficiency of the different current waveforms throughout the converter. Softening of Silica Filled Styrene-Butadiene Rubber under Uniaxial Cyclic Loading

Stress-strain behaviour of silica filled styrene-butadiene rubber showed strong hysteresis and cyclic softening, while these effects were almost negligible for the neat rubber. Significant Mullins effect occurs between the first and second loading cycles, whereupon samples reach their steady state after four repeated cycles. The degree of softening increases with volume content of silica characterizing the softening effect as a breakdown of the filler-formed microstructure defined by both, specific interactions in the filler associations and between the filler and rubber matrix. Definition of Water Meter Substitution Plans based on a Composite Indicator

This paper presents a water meter substitution plan based on a composite "Replacement indicator" which was defined and compared with common substitution strategies based on meter age and on run-to-fail approaches. The methodology was applied to one of the 17 sub-networks in which the Palermo city water distribution network (Italy) is divided. The analysis was carried out considering a substitution budget limitation and the results showed that the use of "Replacement indicator" outperform the classical substitution strategies based on meter age because it takes into account some other variables that may affect meter precision and wearing.
