The authors studied the micro - structural changes of aging long bones. The results show: an increase in the number of the osteons; a sensible decrease in their sectional area; a disappearance of the outer fundamental system until the sixth decade, which undergoes no significant changes afterwards. Whereas the area of the haversian canals and the percentage of the haversian system undergo no significant changes. Background Adding cyclic short sustained inflations (sigh) to assisted ventilation yields optimizes lung recruitment, decreases heterogeneity and reduces inspiratory effort in patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF). These findings suggest that adding sigh to pressure support ventilation (PSV) might decrease the risk of lung injury, shorten weaning and improve clinical outcomes. Lai gan tiek izstrādātas arvien efektīvākas ļaundabīgo audzēju agrīnas skrīninga un diagnostikas metodes, ne-sīkšūnu plaušu vēzis vēl joprojām pārsvarā tiek atklāts III vai IV stadijā, līdz ar to tas ir viens no vadošajiem audzējiem mirstības ziņā. Trombocīti piedalās vēža šūnu augšanā un tālākā izplatīšanā pa organismu. Ne-sīkšūnu plaušu vēža pacientiem bieži ir palielināts trombocītu skaits, kas ir saistīts ar sliktu prognozi.
