From innovation to labour costs : Change of emphasis in Finnish competitiveness policy ideas after the Eurocrisis

Small open economies such as Finland are particularly exposed to international market competition. In this article, Finland is analysed as a competition state where the pursuit of international advantages is a policy priority. Previously, Finland has been argued to be an exemplar of an economy following a strategy of radical transformation via creatively utilizing corporatist institutions instead of relying mainly on liberal reforms. Implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on market orientation in retail banking

AbstractThis qualitative study examines the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic on the implementation of market orientation (MO) in the context of retail banking. The findings show that MO was significantly reflected in the behaviors of banks upon encountering the COVID-19 situation, with the banks increasing their MO in response to the crisis. This study finds subcategories based on the empirical data that explain the implementation of MO in more detail. Overall, the findings provide valuable conceptual and managerial insights into the modus operandi of banks during a crisis and offer new best practices for the banking industry.

THE IMPACT OF THE ECONOMIC CRISIS ON THE ROMANIAN LABOR MARKET - A REGIONAL ANALYSIS

The global financial recession reconfigured the economical structures of many countries and in this context the labor markets all around the world faced major salary cuts and job losses. The Romanian economy wasn`t an exception, and for a better understanding of its labor structures we have analyzed the interactions between some of the most representative and measurable indicators using a regional econometric model. The results show that the dynamics of the labor market changed once the economic crisis was installed and are still continuing to modify since the magnitude of this global phenomena was very powerful.

This article aims to show the interest of statistics available on the Internet concerning consultations of abstracts, downloads and citations of articles to assess the attractiveness and influence of a scientific review. This interest is illustrated by the case of the review Finance Contrôle Stratégie on the basis of the statistics provided by Repec and Publish or Perish. Beyond the findings that confirm the good performance of FCS and the usefulness of these statistics for the management of a scientific review, the article also provides insights into the life cycle of an article and the choice of the language of publication.
Architecture in iron in the city of XIX century Roof structures of theatres and covered markets in Palermo

In post-unification Palermo, components manufactured abroad were usually used for complementary iron structures (greenhouses and skylights, projecting roofs, staircases…), whereas, for more demanding works, more weight was given to the contribution of producers with experience gained in the field of metal construction. Analysis is here carried out on the works of greatest importance, from the roofs of the two major theatres to the roofing of food market structures; the finest technicians were employed and a critical debate was triggered in the city with regard to formal, static and building aspects.

On the Location Attractiveness of Emerging Countries for Foreign Direct Investments

Our paper investigates the FDI attracting potential of emerging markets by in terms of their location attributes. We use Statistical cluster analysis to study the dynamic evolution of emerging markets’ clusters, based on country attributes that are relevant for the MNEs location decision. We find that countries tend to be grouped at a geographical level or depending on the various resources they possess, except for China that clusters independently. Also, there are numerous countries’ transitions from one cluster to another over the years, which indicate a natural process of changing location attributes and market development for many emerging economies.
