Šī bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt konceptuālo metaforu lietošanu finanšu diskursā, un tieši rakstos par akciju biržas tirgu. Raksti tika izvēlēti no diviem interneta avotiem: The Economist un NewYork Times. Darba teorētiskajā daļā sniegts literatūras pārskats par tēlainu valodu, metaforu un žurnālistikas stilu. Empīriskā daļa ir balstīta uz kvalitatīvu un kvantitatīvu konceptuālo metaforu analīzi, izmantojot Lakofa (Lakoff) un Džonsona (Johnson) teoriju un Pragglejaz Group modeli. Problem Transformation Methods with Distance-Based Learning for Multi-Target Regression

Multi-target regression is a special subset of supervised machine learning problems. Problem transformation methods are used in the field to improve the performance of basic methods. The purpose of this article is to test the use of recently popularized distance-based methods, the minimal learning machine (MLM) and the extreme minimal learning machine (EMLM), in problem transformation. The main advantage of the full data variants of these methods is the lack of any meta-parameter. The experimental results for the MLM and EMLM show promising potential, emphasizing the utility of the problem transformation especially with the EMLM. peerReviewed

This paper studies the possible forms or phases of heavy metals in sediments of a marine coastal lagoon, called Ganzirri, located in the Sicilian coast of the Messina’s strait by using sequential extraction. To reduce the extraction time of the Tessier method, the last step of speciation was carried out by mineralization in a microwave oven. Here we report the results of the distribution of As, Be, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mo, Ni, Pb, Sb, Se, Tl, V and Zn, in four fractions of sediments samples and the concentration of the same metals in clams.
