The career potential of migrant scholars in Finnish higher education : emerging perspectives and dynamics

2007

Migration for Work & Education : A case study of Nepal

2018

Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2018 Migration is the process of crossing the national or international broader for the sake of getting a high paid job, education, better living standard, prosperity, settlement, and other diverse motives. This thesis is focused on the surging growth of Nepalese younger generation people going abroad for higher education and work. The question discussed in this master study is about why they are willing to leave the home country, and what economic benefits they get from it.The Logistic regression is applied to find the relationship between several independent variables and dependent variables for labor and educational migr…

Analysis of Factors Influencing the Dynamics of Labor Emigration: Case-Study of Ukraine

2020

This article analyzes the results of foreign and domestic scientists in the field of labor migration and the factors of this phenomenon. Based on previous researches, factors have been grouped into four main categories, which include all areas of life of existing and potential migrants, such as economic and political, social and climatic. Labor migration is constantly growing. Thus, according to the UN estimates, the number of migrant workers in the world in 2019 amounted to 272 million people, ie 3.5 % of the population, compared to 2010, the figure increased by 56.25 %. Such significant migration movements lead to a global imbalance in the labor market. This proves that the study of this …

Sport labor migration, globalization and dual-career : case study of international student-athletes in University of Colorado at Boulder

2014

Sport, education, labor migration and globalization are all current areas of research worldwide. The U.S. has a unique system of making the dual-career option possible by having the college sport league organized by the non-profit association National Collegiate Athletic Association. The labor migration has increased in the past years. The primary research question in this study is, in which ways sport labor migration, globalization and dual-career are illustrated in the case study school of University of Colorado at Boulder by concentrating on the international student-athletes. The purpose of this study is to find out more in detail the numbers of international student-athletes in CU, in …

Społeczne skutki zagranicznych migracji zarobkowych z terenu województwa opolskiego dla dzieci emigrantów pozostających w Polsce

2016

Wiążą się m.in. z…

Macrophages as an Emerging Source of Wnt Ligands: Relevance in Mucosal Integrity

2019

The Wnt signaling pathway is a conserved pathway involved in important cellular processes such as the control of embryonic development, cellular polarity, cellular migration, and cell proliferation. In addition to playing a central role during embryogenesis, this pathway is also an essential part of adult homeostasis. Indeed, it controls the proliferation of epithelial cells in different organs such as intestine, lung, and kidney, and guarantees the maintenance of the mucosa in physiological conditions. The origin of this molecular pathway is the binding between Wnt ligands (belonging to a family of 19 different homologous secreted glycoproteins) and their specific membrane receptors, from …

Blockade of MIF–CD74 Signalling on Macrophages and Dendritic Cells Restores the Antitumour Immune Response Against Metastatic Melanoma

2018

Mounting an effective immune response against cancer requires the activation of innate and adaptive immune cells. Metastatic melanoma is the most aggressive form of skin cancer. While immunotherapies have shown a remarkable success in melanoma treatment, patients develop resistance by mechanisms that include the establishment of an immune suppressive tumor microenvironment. Thus, understanding how metastatic melanoma cells suppress the immune system is vital to develop effective immunotherapies against this disease. In this study, we find that macrophages (MOs) and dendritic cells (DCs) are suppressed in metastatic melanoma and that the Ig-CDR-based peptide C36L1 is able to restore MOs and …

EGF-Induced Acetylation of Heterogeneous Nuclear Ribonucleoproteins Is Dependent on KRAS Mutational Status in Colorectal Cancer Cells.

2015

KRAS mutational status is considered a negative predictive marker of the response to anti-EGFR therapies in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. However, conflicting data exist regarding the variable response to EGFR-targeted therapy. The effects of oncogenic KRAS on downstream targets were studied in cell lines with different KRAS mutations. Cells harboring a single KRASG13D allele showed the most tumorigenic profile, with constitutive activation of the downstream pathway, rendering them EGF-unresponsive. Conversely, KRASA146T cells showed a full EGF-response in terms of signal transduction pathways, cell proliferation, migration or adhesion. Moreover, the global acetylome of CRC cells was al…

Collective Locomotion of Human Cells, Wound Healing and Their Control by Extracts and Isolated Compounds from Marine Invertebrates

2020

The collective migration of cells is a complex integrated process that represents a common theme joining morphogenesis, tissue regeneration, and tumor biology. It is known that a remarkable amount of secondary metabolites produced by aquatic invertebrates displays active pharmacological properties against a variety of diseases. The aim of this review is to pick up selected studies that report the extraction and identification of crude extracts or isolated compounds that exert a modulatory effect on collective cell locomotion and/or skin tissue reconstitution and recapitulate the molecular, biochemical, and/or physiological aspects, where available, which are associated to the substances und…
