Educational requirements and skills for social inclusion: the CPIA 189 resources for unaccompanied migrant minors

The work hypothesis of the paper is a correlation between language proficiency and social inclusion. From the alphabetization to the Italian language and prospects of social inclusion, the survey conducted in Sicily in 2017, analyses educational needs by interviewing 503 unaccompanied migrant minors (UAM) attending the CPIA in the whole Sicily. By analysing linguistic skills, family, social conditions of departure and permanence in Italy, the research defines the main socio-linguistic profiles and possible paths for training offer and services addressed to UAMs, as key points to start a process of inclusion that transforms in resource what is instead is seen as a problem.

Adopting a child is not a legal concept recognized in Islamic law, which, while giving great importance to orphans and children’s rights, has introduced the legal institution of the Kafala. This institution can be defined as a commitment by the kafil to ensure maintenance, education and protection of a minor makfoul until his legal majority, in the same way as would a father to his son, but without creating any family relationship. On the Impact of (Il)literacy on L2 Italian Acquisition of Unaccompanied Foreign Minors

The aim of the paper is to analyse the interlanguage of L2 Italian learners with the same L1 but different levels of education. The learners belong to the “unaccompanied foreign minorsˮ category, whose linguistic profile is characterised by the frequent coexistence of a multilingual ability and a very low, or zero, level of education. Focusing on the acquisition of verb inflectional morphology and on phraseological units as well, the comparison of learners’ varieties aims to show that several differences depend on the only parameter that differentiates them, namely literacy vs. illiteracy in L1.
