A complete model of a power-line communication (PLC) system on a medium-voltage (MV) network in the case of a line-shield configuration is presented in this paper. An MV cable model in a line-shield configuration is considered together with the power transformers, the signal coupling networks, and the receiving and transmitting line coupling interface of a ST7540 FSK power-line transceiver. Simulations of the complete model of the system under consideration have been carried out for different line lengths, with and without power transformers and derivation branches. Fricke gel dosimeters based on various matrix has been studied for a long time as 3D dosimetric system for radiotherapy. Selfoxidation and loss of spatial resolution due to diffusion have been the main issues that have impaired the affirmation of this technique so far. As part of an Italian nation-wide research program, we were interested in develop new gel formulations that are simple, reproducible and non toxic. The paper deals with the metrological characterization of a digital wattmeter developed by using a personal computer, a shunt, two commercial data acquisition boards and commercial software. The uncertainty of the active power measurements is assessed individually characterizing the voltage channel, the current channel and the phase displacement measurement between the two channels. Dating of marine sediments by using unsupported 210Pb method

In the framework of a more general study on marine species in sediments, it was necessary to obtain a time calibration of the different sections of the sampled sediment columns, both to estimate the pollution of the sediments and, particularly, to study the migration of foraminifers within the column. The method of the unsupported 210Pb, i.e. whose activity is not derived from the radioactive decay of its 226Ra parent, has been used. Since the activity of the supported 210Pb can be determined from the activity of 226Ra, the unsupported 210Pb activity can be calculated as the difference between 210Pb total and 226Ra activities. A single-point strategy based on IEEE 1459-2000 for the Detection of Dominant Harmonic Sources in Power Systems

This paper deals with a novel single-point strategy for the detection of harmonic sources in power systems. It is an enhancement of a previous strategy, developed by authors, which is based on the IEEE Std. 1459-2000 approach. In the paper, the effectiveness of the strategy is investigated, by means of simulation tests, which were carried out on a IEEE standard three-phase test power system. The analysis is carried out by considering also the presence of the measurement transducers.
