Age-dependent changes in the transcription profile of long-lived Drosophila over-expressing glutamate cysteine ligase
2011
Abstract In our prior studies ( Orr et al., 2005 ) we achieved a 30–50% increase in the life span of Drosophila by manipulating glutathione (GSH) production in neuronal tissues, through over-expression of glutamate-cysteine ligase (GCL), a key enzyme in glutathione biosynthesis. In the present study, we identified gene response patterns from which plausible mechanisms responsible for the observed effects on life span might be inferred. Functional clustering analysis of the transcriptome data revealed that biological processes affected by GCLc in young flies (10 days) were generally related to cell morphogenesis and differentiation, while those in older flies were associated with nucleosome …
Induction of a disintegrin and metalloprotease 33 during embryonic lung development and the influence of IL-13 or maternal allergy.
2009
Background Asthma pathogenesis involves gene and environmental interactions. A disintegrin and metalloprotease 33 (ADAM33)/Adam33 is a susceptibility gene for asthma and bronchial hyperresponsiveness in human beings and mice. ADAM33 is almost exclusively expressed in mesenchymal cells, including mesenchymal progenitors in developing lungs. Objective Because maternal allergy is a risk factor for asthma, we hypothesized that an allergic environment affects ADAM33/Adam33 expression during human and mouse lung development. Methods Human embryonic/fetal lung (HEL) tissues were collected from first-trimester terminations of pregnancy. These were processed immediately or used for explant culture ±…
IRSp53 controls plasma membrane shape and polarized transport at the nascent lumen in epithelial tubules.
2020
It is unclear whether the establishment of apical–basal cell polarity during the generation of epithelial lumens requires molecules acting at the plasma membrane/actin interface. Here, we show that the I-BAR-containing IRSp53 protein controls lumen formation and the positioning of the polarity determinants aPKC and podocalyxin. Molecularly, IRSp53 acts by regulating the localization and activity of the small GTPase RAB35, and by interacting with the actin capping protein EPS8. Using correlative light and electron microscopy, we further show that IRSp53 ensures the shape and continuity of the opposing plasma membrane of two daughter cells, leading to the formation of a single apical lumen. G…

ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of Tumor-Associated Glycopeptide Antigens
2010
Carbohydrates and peptides linked together in glycoproteins constitute important components of the molecular communication between cells in multicellular organisms. Cell morphogenesis and tumorigenesis are accompanied by changes in the glycoprotein profiles of the outer cell membranes. Glycopeptide fragments of glycoproteins that have altered structures in tumor cells are of interest as tumor-associated antigens for the distinction between normal cells and tumor cells. In contrast to glycoproteins isolated from biological sources, synthetic glycopeptides are obtained in pure form and exactly specified structures. The methods developed for the synthesis of glycopeptides with tumor-associated…
Mechanobiological computational model for the development and formation of synovial joints
2019
Human temporomandibular joint morphogenesis
2007
Temporomandibular joint morphogenesis was studied. Ranging in age of fetuses examine was from 6 to 14 weeks’ gestation. Our results showed the condyle so first element that appear between 6° and 8° week (condylar blastema). After a week appear temporal elements. Disk appear at the same time of glenoid blastema and its reaches an advanced differentiation before of the condyle and temporal element, so these don’t effect mechanical compression on mesenchimal where we find the disk. So we think that the disk result of genetic expression and it isn’t the result of mechanical compression. The inferior joint cavity appear to 12 week. The superior joint appear to 13-14 week. In conclusion, the appe…
Road network characterization to understand city evolution
2021
International audience; Cities combine different kind of processes that drive their evolution. It is of a great interest to understand the effects of different kinds of spatial patterns on those processes, to be able to minimize space consumption and optimize mobility and transportation. In this research, we aim to contribute to the understanding of city evolution by a focus on the road network of the Eastern French city of Dijon’s. Firstly, we select three network indicators that can be used to characterize the city structure as it grows. We apply these indicators to Dijon’s historical road networks from 1650 until 2019. Finally, we discuss how we can use computational simulations of city g…
The impact of urban transformations on the morphology of streets networks
2017
This research takes place in the field of quantitative analysis of historical streets networks.During the last decades, many studies have used network analysis or space syntax approachin a diachronic perspective, either to observe the interdependence between networkconfigurations and land-use, or to explore the link between network configurations and knownurban phenomena, such as densification, dispersal or expansion. These researches often focuson one single transformation rather than on the long time evolution of networks. In this work,we will explore the evolution of the street network of Paris, between 1300 and 1871, and linkthis evolution to all the transformations that occurred in the…
