Cognitive assessment of OCD patients: Neuro VR vs neuropsychological test

2014

This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Neuro- Virtual Reality as tool for the neuropsychological assessment in OCD patients. We used the neuropsychological battery and a virtual version of the Multiple Errand Test (V-MET), developed using the NeuroVR software, in order to evaluate the executive functions, the ability to plan ahead on complex problem solving tasks in daily life in 30 obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) patients and 30 healthy controls. The results showed the presence of difficulties of OCD patients: lower levels of divided attention and higher levels of errors; higher mean rank of inefficiencies, interpretation failures and rule breaks and longer ti…

Temporal multiplexing with adaptive optics for simultaneous vision.

2016

We present and test a methodology for generating simultaneous vision with a deformable mirror that changed shape at 50 Hz between two vergences: 0 D (far vision) and −2.5 D (near vision). Different bifocal designs, including toric and combinations of spherical aberration, were simulated and assessed objectively. We found that typical corneal aberrations of a 60-year-old subject changes the shape of objective through-focus curves of a perfect bifocal lens. This methodology can be used to investigate subjective visual performance for different multifocal contact or intraocular lens designs.

VoIP end-to-end performance in HSPA with packet age aided HSDPA scheduling

2008

In this paper, we present an enhanced VoIP scheduling for the high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) in UMTS, which takes the age of the VoIP packet into account. The downlink capacity can be significantly improved by this way, especially for shorter uplink transmission delay. In order to quantify the achievable performance improvement, we present results obtained from extensive system-level uplink and downlink simulations. Inter alia, it is shown that using the proposed scheme can lead to an increase in the downlink cell capacity of up to 16%. By applying the proposed method, the downlink performance can be improved considerably while the uplink performance remains the same, which ensur…

On Serving Cell Change Reliability in HSDPA Network

2009

In Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) networks the Signaling Radio Bearer (SRB) is transmitted downlink to inform the user i.a. when it needs to make a handover. When transmitting e.g. Voice over IP (VoIP) on High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) SRB is mapped on HSDPA user data channel, High-Speed Downlink Shared Channel (HS-DSCH) in order to maximize voice capacity. The lack of support for soft handover (SHO) of HS-DSCH may compromise the reception of SRB and thus also a possible incoming serving HSDPA cell change command especially at the cell borders. This can lead to serious VoIP service degradation due to prolonged camping on a poor cell and in the worst case even to c…

Beyond GDP: an analysis of the socio-economic diversity of European regions

2019

International audience; This paper aims to analyze the socioeconomic diversity of the European Union (EU-28) regions from a dynamic perspective. For that purpose, we combine a series of exploratory space-time analysis approaches to multiple Factor Analysis (MFA) applied to a large range of indicators collected at the NUTS-2 level for the period 2000–2015 for the EU-28. First, we find that the first factor of MFA, interpreted as economic development (ECO-DEV), is spatially clustered and that a moderate convergence process is at work between European regions from 2000 to 2015. Second, when comparing these results with those obtained for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, we show that th…

Clinical Utility of a Unique Genome-Wide DNA Methylation Signature for KMT2A-Related Syndrome

2022

Wiedemann–Steiner syndrome (WDSTS) is a Mendelian syndromic intellectual disability (ID) condition associated with hypertrichosis cubiti, short stature, and characteristic facies caused by pathogenic variants in the KMT2A gene. Clinical features can be inconclusive in mild and unusual WDSTS presentations with variable ID (mild to severe), facies (typical or not) and other associated malformations (bone, cerebral, renal, cardiac and ophthalmological anomalies). Interpretation and classification of rare KMT2A variants can be challenging. A genome-wide DNA methylation episignature for KMT2A-related syndrome could allow functional classification of variants and provide insights into the pathoph…

Cervico-Oculo-Acusticus (Wildervanck's) syndrome: a clinical variant of Klippel-Feil sequence?

1990

A 7-year-old female child with phenotype of Cervico-Oculo-Acousticus (Wildervanck's) syndrome is presented. In addition to fusion of multiple cervical vertebrae with short neck, abducens nerve palsy and deafness, the child showed severe growth and bone delay, renal abnormalities and slight mental retardation. The presence of such malformations seems to suggest that Wildervanck's syndrome is a clinical variant of Klippel-Feil sequence. Both conditions usually have sporadic occurrence with female prevalence, more consistent for cervico-oculo-acousticus syndrome. The possibility of dominant inheritance has been postulated for both, autosomal for Klippel-Feil, autosomal or X-linked with lethali…

More clues about Sensory Impact of Sotolon in Some Flor Sherry Wines

1992

The olfactory impact of sotolon [4,5-dimethyl-3-hydroxy-2(5H)-furanone] in wines was first demonstrated in botrytized wines. In sherry wines it was recently found to occur at concentrations varying from 0 to 500 ppb. The olfactory detection threshold of a sample of purified racemic sotolon was determined to be lower (15 ppb) in white wine than its concentration in most sherries. Its flavor impact in sherries was calculated to be between 1 and 25 OUV. Using MCA of the data obtained from 22 wines (white wines, rancios, Spanish and French sherries) during two tasting sessions by wine professionals, significant positive correlations were found-between the concentration of sotolon and the typica…
