The CFO’s Information Challenge in Managing Macroeconomic Risk
2010
In this paper we examine the role of the CFO in setting risk management strategy with respect to macroeconomic risk, in particular, and we consider the information requirements for setting a strategy that is consistent with corporate objectives. We argue that macroeconomic risk management requires a broad approach encompassing financial, operational and strategic considerations. Furthermore, several interdependent sources of risk in the macroeconomic environment must be taken into account. Once this interdependence among, for example, exchange rates, interest rates and inflation are taken into account macroeconomic risk management can be considered a relatively self-contained aspect of Inte…
'What can I do? Any tips?' Online communities and agoraphobia, an open channel for shared participation in management of medical treatment
2021
Efficacy of the NaviTip FX irrigation needle in removing calcium hydroxide from root canal
2012
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the NaviTip FX, brush-covered irrigation needle, in removing calcium hydroxide from the root canal. Study Design: Thirty single-rooted teeth were randomly divided into three groups: A - irrigation with a hypodermic needle inserted as far as possible without binding and activation with #30 K-type file; B - Irrigation with a hypodermic needle without activation; C - irrigation with NaviTip FX needle. Sodium hypoclorite 1% was used in irrigation. The root canals were examined trough scanning electron microscopy. Calcium hydroxide removal was recorded at 1, 5, and 10mm from the working length (WL) and the data were analysed using one-way ANOVA test (p…
Unmet need for health care: the case of foreigners living in Italy
2014
Italy has a public and universal health care system that covers -in principle- both regular and irregular migrants’ health care demand. However, the concrete shows that migrants in Italy experience specific inequalities in health and access to health care, that overlap the existing geographical disparities in the access to care across the country. This study aims to compare self-perceived unmet need among foreigners living in Italy assessing whether it varies from one foreign-national group to the other. In particular, we study the self-reported unmet need as an indicator of access to health care, exploring its reasons. Data used for the analysis come from the Italian special Survey of Inco…
Foreigners in Italy: economic living conditions and unmet medical needs
2015
Foreigners in Italy experience specific inequalities in health and in access to health care that overlap with existing geographical disparities. In this study we aim to compare the effects of living conditions on self-perceived unmet medical needs among foreigners living in Italy. In particular, we test several measures of living conditions, and assess whether these measures affect foreigners differently depending on their nationality. The data used for the analysis are from the Italian Special Survey of Income and Living Conditions carried out on households with foreigners in 2009.
Imiquimod-Induced Psoriasis in Mice Depends on the IL-17 Signaling of Keratinocytes
2018
The pathology of psoriasis strongly depends on IL-17A. Monoclonal antibodies blocking either the cytokine or its receptor are among the most efficient treatments for psoriatic patients. Keratinocytes can be activated upon exposure to IL-17A and tumor necrosis factor-α and secrete secondary cytokines and chemokines in the inflamed skin. In psoriasis and its imiquimod-induced mouse model, a strong skin infiltration of neutrophils and inflammatory monocytes can be observed. However, to date, it is not clear how exactly those cellular populations are attracted to the skin and how they contribute to the pathogenesis of the disease. To define the crucial cell type responding to IL-17 and initiati…
Human capital evaluation in knowledge-based organizations based on big data analytics
2020
Abstract Starting from a Human Capital Analysis Model, this work introduces an original methodology for evaluating the performance of employees. The proposed architecture, particularly well suited to the special needs of knowledge-based organizations, is articulated into a framework able to manage cases where data is missing and an adaptive scoring algorithm takes into account seniority, performance, and performance evolution trends, allowing employee evaluation over longer periods. We developed a flexible software tool that gathers data from organizations in an automatic way – through adapted connectors – and generates abundant results on the measurement and distribution of employees’ perf…
The Common Good Balance Sheet, an Adequate Tool to Capture Non-Financials?
2019
In relation to organizational performance measurement, there is a growing concern about the creation of value for people, society and the environment. The traditional corporate reporting does not adequately satisfy the information needs of stakeholders for assessing an organization&rsquo
