The odour of human milk: Its chemical variability and detection by newborns

International audience; Human milk odour has for long elicited research interest with regard to its function in breastfeeding initiation. The present review aims to provide an overview of the behavioural effects of human milk odour in the human neonate, considering different types of response measures in a feeding or non-feeding context. Further, an overview of the current knowledge of odorant composition and factors influencing milk odour is provided by summarizing results from analytical studies using olfactometry, and addressing changes in milk odour due to storage, lactational stage, and maternal dietary intake of odorous substances. We finally highlight some issues for future research.

Ņemot vērā notikuma nozīmi un tiešsaistes ziņu lomu informācijas nodošanā mūsdienās, šī pētījuma mērķis bija parādīt lingvistisko un vizuālo līdzekļu integratīvo lomu nozīmes veidošanā, attēlojot Amerikas Savienoto Valstu prezidenta Džo Baidena inaugurāciju kā svarīgu notikumu tiešsaistes ziņās. This paper deals with the open source method practiced within the new media art context. I present a case study on an international festival, PixelACHE 2005, which was organized by and for new media artists and served as a platform for demonstrations of new media projects and as a meeting place for experimental new media artists. In this article I discuss how new media artists adapted the open source ideology. Open source is seen both as a more liberal method of distribution and as an open joint creative process. Methylprednisolone-induced hepatotoxicity in a 16-year-old girl with multiple sclerosis.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease with demyelination of the central nervous system. High-dosage corticosteroids are the first-line therapy in the acute relapsing of MS. We report a case of severe high-dose methylprednisolone-induced acute hepatitis in a patient with a new diagnosis of MS. A 16-year-old girl was admitted for urticaria, angioedema, nausea and vomiting a month later she had been diagnosed with MS and treated with high-dosage methylprednisolone. Laboratory investigations showed hepatic insufficiency with grossly elevated liver enzymes. A liver biopsy showed focal centrilobular hepatocyte necrosis with interface hepatitis. The research topic of this dissertation is the press of the Social Democratic Party of Finland (SDP) from the March revolution of 1917 in Russia to the end of the Finnish Civil War in the spring of 1918. Under research are 16 party papers, which, however, were not owned by the party, and therefore neither under its guidance nor control. The papers' owners, local working class organizations, elected the editors-in-chief, who often held central posts in the party. In this way they could use their relatively independent positions to further their political views in their editorials.
