Influence of different photoinitiators on the resistance of union in bovine dentin: Experimental and microscopic study

2021

Background To evaluate in vitro the influence of photoinitiators on the microtensile strength of adhesive systems and composite resins in bovine dentin. Material and Methods Forty dentin obtained from bovine teeth were randomly distributed in four groups (n = 10) according to the different adhesive systems and composite resins used: G1 - AAPS + VAPS (Ambar APS + Vittra APS); G2- AAPS + O (Ambar APS + Opallis); G3 - A + VAPS (Ambar + Vittra APS) and G4 - A + O (Ambar + Opallis). After restoration with the composite, the samples were sectioned to obtain toothpicks that were subjected to the microtensile and nanofiltration test (1.0 mm/min). Results The Kruskal-Wallis test did not show signifi…

Dynamical heterogeneities of rotational motion in room temperature ionic liquids evidenced by molecular dynamics simulations

2018

Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) have been shown to exhibit spatial heterogeneity or structural heterogeneity in the sense that they form hydrophobic and ionic domains. Yet studies of the relationship between this structural heterogeneity and the ∼picosecond motion of the molecular constituents remain limited. In order to obtain insight into the time scales relevant to this structural heterogeneity, we perform molecular dynamics simulations of a series of RTILs. To investigate the relationship between the structures, i.e., the presence of hydrophobic and ionic domains, and the dynamics, we gradually increase the size of the hydrophobic part of the cation from ethylammonium nitrate (EA…

A novel method of nanocrystal fabrication based on laser ablation in liquid environment

2008

Abstract Metal nanoparticles can be prepared by a novel technique that consists of the laser ablation of a solid target immersed in a water solution of a metal salt. Silicon was chosen as the most adequate target to synthesize silver and gold nanoparticles from a water solution of either AgNO3 or HAuCl4. The influence of both the silver nitrate concentrations and the irradiation time of the Si target on the optical properties of the Au and Ag nanoparticles have been investigated. The crystalline nature of the metal nanoparticles has been determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Average size and particle size distribution have been measured by means of TEM. The absorbance spectra show the char…

Continuous hydrothermal synthesis of nanometric BaZrO3 in supercritical water

2007

Abstract Nanocrystalline barium zirconate (BaZrO 3 ) was synthesized using a hydrothermal synthesis process working in supercritical conditions and in a continuous way. By this method, we succeeded in the continuous and rapid production of nanopowders. As a preliminary work three barium precursors have been investigated: barium hydroxide (Ba(OH) 2 ), barium acetate (Ba(CH 3 COO) 2 ) and barium nitrate (Ba(NO 3 ) 2 ). Two of them (Ba(CH 3 COO) 2 and Ba(NO 3 ) 2 ) led to the pure perovskite phase. Then an experimental design has been conducted in order to determine the influence of the experimental parameters on the crystallinity and the grain size of the final product.

Effect of alkali metal nitrate treatment on the optical properties of CsPbBr3 nanocrystal films

2021

Abstract Colloidal cesium lead bromide (CsPbBr3) perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) are fabricated as densely packed thin films using doctor blade method through a layer-by-layer assembly approach. It is found that the optical properties of the CsPbBr3 NC films are significantly improved after a ligand exchange of oleic acid (OA) and oleylamine (OAm) by sodium and potassium nitrate in ethyl acetate. Ligand-induced surface defects are passivated by the sodium and potassium cations and nitrate, which leads to the improvement in photoluminescence (PL) and life-time properties. Compared with pristine OAm-OA capped CsPbBr3 NC film, Alkali-metal nitrate salts treated films are showing higher PL intens…

Low-temperature Ti-containing 3:2 and 2:1 mullite nanocrystals from single-phase gels

2007

Abstract TiO 2 -containig single-phase gels with (Al 2 O 3  + TiO 2 )/(SiO 2 ) molar ratios 3/2 and 2/1 were prepared by gelling mixtures of aluminium nitrate, tetraethylorthosilicate and titanium isopropoxide. Gels were fast heated at several temperatures up to 1100 °C. Dried and heated gels were characterized by differential thermal analysis (DTA), magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS-NMR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), and scanning and transmission electron microscopies (SEM and TEM). Coupled DTA and XRD results of gels fast heated at 900 °C showed the crystallisation of two mullites as well as a small amount of alumina-silica spinel. 27 Al NMR spectra showed the format…

An X-ray powder diffraction study of the microstructural evolution on heating 3:2 and 2:1 mullite single-phase gels

2006

Single-phase gels with compositions 3Al2O3·2SiO2 and 2Al2O3·SiO2 were prepared by gelling mixtures of aluminium nitrate and tetraethylorthosilicate. Gels were fast heated at different temperatures between 900°C and 1600°C. The phase transformation and microstructural changes of both mullite precursor gels over the temperature range were followed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), lattice parameter determination (LP), and scanning and transmission electron microscopies (SEM and TEM). The distribution of crystallite sizes and strains were determined by linewidth refinements of X-ray diffraction patterns using the integral breadth method of Langford and the Warren-Averbach analysis. XRD of bot…

Phase Composition and Nanoporous Structure of Core and Surface in the Modified Granules of NH4NO3

2018

The article deals with the study of phase composition and crystal nanoporous structure of core and surface layer of porous ammonium nitrate (PAN). The research results, presented in the article, show that the proposed way to generate PAN allows to provide the granule porous structure without changing of its phase composition. The crystal structure of granules after the humidification and heat treatment has some changes due to the increase of the number of pores. The change of crystal structure, in turn, allows to open access to nanopores that are located in the volume of granules. This allows to increase the holding capacity indicator of granules. An important result of conducted researches…

Amphiphilic Poly(organosiloxane) Nanospheres as Nanoreactors for the Synthesis of Topologically Trapped Gold, Silver, and Palladium Colloids

2003

Amphiphilic poly(organosiloxane) nanospheres with different core−shell architectures are employed as passive nanoreactors for the synthesis of noble metal colloids. The amphiphilic poly(organosiloxane) nanospheres, which have diameters between 15 and 40 nm, possess a hydrophilic interior and a hydrophobic shell. Dispersed in organic solvents such as toluene, it has been achieved to transfer hydrophilic noble metal salts through the solvent into the nanospheres by either liquid−liquid or solid−liquid phase transfer. Subsequently, reduction of the noble metal salt with lithium triethylborohydride led to the formation of 2−5 nm sized noble metal colloids. If the network density of the shell of…

Preparation of graphene nanocomposites from aqueous silver nitrate using graphene oxide’s peroxidase-like and carbocatalytic properties

2020

AbstractThe present study evaluates the role of graphene oxide’s (GO’s) peroxidase-like and inherent/carbocatalytic properties in oxidising silver nitrate (AgNO3) to create graphene nanocomposites with silver nanoparticles (GO/Ag nanocomposite). Activation of peroxidase-like catalytic function of GO required hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and ammonia (NH3) in pH 4.0 disodium hydrogen phosphate (Na2HPO4). Carbocatalytic abilities of GO were triggered in pH 4.0 deionised distilled water (ddH2O). Transmission electron microscope (TEM), scanning electron microscope (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and UV-Vis spectroscopy aided in qualitatively and quantitatively assessing GO/Ag nanocomposites. TEM and …
