The study highlights the originality of Consol's stylistic experimentation and examines the iconological construction of novels. The adoption of an iconic perspective is the rhetorical strategy with which the Sicilian author formalizes techniques of metaphorical irradiation and analogical sequences.The problematic intensity of the historic invention is set out in a complex mesh of symmetries and antitheses among pictorial and narrative symbols, and is articulated as metonymic flow of images that are able to show materials and forms of the modern novel.

The study begins with an analysis of the reasons why the images of the American version of Murena are censored, with modest veils being thrown upon any instance of nudity while this version rather emphasizes the violence of the graphic novel in its translation and adaptation choices. That paradoxical attitude is discussed in the context of the ambiguities developed in the US culture as regards the representation of nudity being a reminder of the human species’ animal dimension in a society still fraught with puritanical assumptions. Making Sociologically-Grounded Fictions. A Review of the Sociorama Collection Experience

As members of the scientific committee of a collection of sociological comic strips, we offer feedback here on our experience of translating qualitative sociological research into graphic fictions. Through the presentation of main editorial choices and the organization of the adaptation work, we explain and discuss the effects produced by this type of adaptation on sociological discourse. We present a “lesson learned” from this adaptation process that disrupted and challenged the inherent assumptions of academic sociological writing. This review of Sociorama albums highlights some advantages and successes, as well as some limitations and obstacles introduced by this comic-ization.

The translation of slang is a thorny issue for any translator. First, we define the object of study, the classic slang and the language of the trenches, to clarify the choice that pushes the authors of comics and graphic novels to privilege this language. En el presente artículo, la ciudad de Valencia puede considerarse escenario y destino de viaje al mismo tiempo. Sirve de telón de fondo a dos novelas policíacas alemanas cuyos autores han elegido Valencia como su nuevo hogar y cuyos protagonistas se mueven por la ciudad y sus alrededores. En el primer ejemplo, la interacción de autor y protagonista con este escenario local contribuye a la construcción de la ciudad como espacio cultural identitario y, en última instancia, pretende no sólo evocar sentimientos estéticos en el lector, sino también animar a viajar por la región.
