Comparison of three activity monitors for estimating sedentary time among children

Background: Time spent sedentary appears to be associated with several health outcomes in adults, but findings are inconsistent in children. Further, the assessment of sedentary time represents a major challenge. The objectives of the present study were to determine whether 1) ActiGraph GT3X+, ActivPAL and SenseWear Armband Pro3 (SWA) provide comparable estimates of sedentary time in 9–12-year-old children, 2) these devices are valid compared with direct observation, and 3) ActivPAL discriminates between sitting and standing behavior. <p>The La Fossa cone of Vulcano Island (Aeolian Archipelago, Italy) is a closed conduit volcano. Today, Vulcano Island is characterized by sulfataric activity, with a large fumarolic field that is mainly located in the summit area. A scanning differential optical absorption spectroscopy instrument designed by the Optical Sensing Group of Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden, was installed in the framework of the European project "Network for Observation of Volcanic and Atmospheric Change", in March 2008. Spin and charge currents driven by the Higgs mode in high-field superconductors

The Higgs mode in superconducting materials describes slowly decaying oscillations of the order parameter amplitude. We demonstrate that in superconductors with a built-in spin-splitting field the Higgs mode is strongly coupled to the spin degrees of freedom, allowing for the generation of time-dependent spin currents. Converting such spin currents to electric signals by spin-filtering elements provides a tool for the second-harmonic generation and the electrical detection of the Higgs mode generated by the external irradiation. First observations of the X-ray transient EXO 2030+375 with IBIS/ISGRI

We present a first INTEGRAL observation of the 42s transient X-ray pulsar EXO 2030+375 with IBIS/ISGRI. The source was detected during Cyg X-1 observations in December 2002. We analyzed observations during the outburst period from 9 to 21 December 2002 with a total exposure time of ~770 kiloseconds. EXO 2030+375 was almost always detected during single ~30 minute exposures in the 18-45 energy bands. The source light curve shows the characteristic outburst shape observed in this source.
Isotopic variation of parity violation in atomic ytterbium: Description of the measurement method and analysis of systematic effects

We present a detailed description of experimental studies of the parity violation effect in an isotopic chain of atomic ytterbium (Yb), whose results were reported in a recent paper [Antypas et al., Nat. Phys. 15, 120 (2019)]. We discuss the principle of these measurements, made on the Yb $6{s}^{2} {}^{1}{S}_{0}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}5d6s ^{3}D_{1}$ optical transition at 408 nm, describe the experimental apparatus, and give a detailed account of our studies of systematic effects in the experiment. A Use Case of Data Integration in Food Production

International audience; This paper presents a use case about knowledge representation and integration of data from different domains in food science. An ontology named PO 2 DG, the Process and Observation Ontology for the production of Dairy Gels, has been designed in order to provide a shared vocabulary for domain experts. The available data have been semantically structured using PO 2 DG and are stored in an RDF repository named PO 2 DG dataset. This use case identifies some of the challenges when dealing with a multi domain representation problem, gives some hints about possible solutions and suggests some further work.

This paper presents the principles, method and main results of the Observatory of the Socio-Ecological Transition in Franche-Comté (OTSE-fc). The latter is currently used as a reference for the development of the Drâa observatory of the Province of Ouarzazate as part of the CNRS-CNRST scientific cooperation project 2015-2016. At the request of the participants of the workshop, we also summarized the progress of the territorial diagnosis of the Province of Ouarzazate, which constitutes the basis of the Drââ Observatory.
