Increased conductivity of a hole transport layer due to oxidation by a molecular nanomagnet

Thin film transistors based on polyarylamine poly?N,N?-diphenyl-N,N ?bis?4-hexylphenyl?- ?1,1?biphenyl?-4,4?-diamine ?pTPD? were fabricated using spin coating in order to measure the mobility of pTPD upon oxidation. Partially oxidized pTPD with a molecular magnetic cluster showed an increase in mobility of over two orders of magnitude. A transition in the mobility of pTPD upon doping could also be observed by the presence of a maximum obtained for a given oxidant ratio and subsequent decrease for a higher ratio. Such result agrees well with a previously reported model based on the combined effect of dipolar broadening of the density of states and transport manifold filling. Peer Reviewed

Linear and nonlinear optical properties of a series of Ni-dithiolene derivatives

Some linear and nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of Ni(SCH)4 and several of its derivatives have been computed by employing a series of basis sets and a hierarchy of methods (e.g., HF, DFT, coupled cluster, and multiconfigurational techniques). The electronic structure of Ni(SCH)4 has been also analyzed by using CASSCF/CASPT2, ab initio valence bond, and DFT methods. In particular we discuss how the diradicaloid character (DC) of Ni(SCH)4 significantly affects its NLO properties. The quasidegeneracy of the two lowest-energy singlet states 1 mathg and 1 math1u, the clear DC nature of the former, and the very large number of low-lying states enhance the NLO properties values. Performance of a pilot-scale biotrickling filter in controlling the volatile organic compound emissions in a furniture manufacturing facility.

A 0.75-m3 pilot-scale biotrickling filter was run for over 1 yr in a Spanish furniture company to evaluate its performance in the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) contained in the emission of two different paint spray booths. The first one was an open front booth used to manually paint furniture, and the second focus was an automatically operated closed booth operated to paint pieces of furniture. In both cases, the VOC emissions were very irregular, with rapid and extreme fluctuations. Performance evaluation of a biotrickling filter treating a mixture of oxygenated VOCs during intermittent loading

Laboratory scale-studies on the biodegradation of a 1:1:1 weight mixture of three oxygenated volatile organic compounds (VOCs), ethanol, ethyl acetate, and methyl-ethyl ketone (MEK) in a biotrickling filter (BTF) were carried out using two identically sized columns, filled with different polypropylene rings. The performance of the BTFs was examined for a period of 10 months applying several operational strategies. Similar performance was obtained for both supports. Hydrogen sulfide and odor removal by field-scale biotrickling filters: Influence of seasonal variations of load and temperature

Two biotrickling filters were set up at two wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) in The Netherlands to investigate their effectiveness for treatment of odorous waste gases from different sources. Ferric chloride solutions are used as coagulants or flocculants in water treatment operations for human consumption. This treatment produces large amounts of clay-type solids formed mainly of montmorillonite with iron oxides and humic substances.
