Investigating the possible impact of peritoneal tumor exposure amongst women with early stage cervical cancer treated with minimally invasive approac…

2021

Abstract Introduction Recent findings show a detrimental impact of the minimally invasive approach on patients with early stage cervical cancer (ECC). Reasons beyond these results are unclear. The aim of the present article is to investigate the possible role of peritoneal contamination during intracorporeal colpotomy. Methods patients with early stage cervical cancer were divided into 2 groups: no intraperitoneal exposure (N-IPE) intraperitoneal exposure (IPE) during minimally invasive surgery. Patients of the 2 groups were propensity-matched according to the major risk factors. Results 226 cases of the IPE group had a significant worst prognosis than the 142 cases of the N-IPE group (4.5-…

Minimally invasive interval debulking surgery in ovarian neoplasm (MISSION trial–NCT02324595): a feasibility study

2016

Background Laparoscopy has acquired an increasing role in the management of ovarian cancer. Laparoscopic cytoreduction could represent a new frontier for selected patients after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). Objective We sought to assess feasibility and early complication rate of minimally invasive (MI) interval debulking surgery (IDS) in stage III-IV epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients after NACT. Study Design This is a phase II multicentric study in advanced EOC cases with clinical complete response after NACT, according to Gynecologic Cancer Intergroup and Response Evaluation Criteria In Solid Tumors criteria. Institutional review board approval was obtained and all patients sign…

Evaluation of Peri-Operative Management in Women with Deep Endometriosis Who are Candidates for Bowel Surgery: A Survey from the Italian Society of G…

2023

Study objective: There is great consensus that the implementation of ERAS approach is beneficial for surgical patients, but there is paucity of data concerning its application in women with deep endometriosis (DE) who are candidates for bowel surgery. The present survey was aimed at gathering detailed information on perioperative management of DE patients undergoing sigmoid/rectal (discoid or segmental) resection within SEGI group. Design: Baseline survey. Setting: National survey conducted within the main Italian cooperative group in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (SEGI). Patients: The study did not involve patients. Interventions: A 63-item questionnaire, covering ERAS items for g…

P-749 Increased accuracy in infertility workup by the additional use of new modern diagnostic methods (“diagnostic TRIO”): results from a large retro…

2023

Study question Is there any positive effect of adding new modalities to the traditional infertility work-up, like 3D sonography, office hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy? Summary answer During infertility workup conventional diagnostic tests should be combined with new approaches (3D-TVS, OHSC and endometrial biopsy) to achieve more accurate and less invasive diagnostics. What is known already Female infertility can be explained by functional or organic abnormalities affecting the reproductive system. The most common organic causes include abnormalities within the uterine cavity (e.g. endometrial polyp, submucosal fibroid, intrauterine adhesion), morphological disorders (e.g. dysmorphic u…
