Albumin binding and hydrophobic character of promazine and chlorpromazine metabolites.
1972
1. The binding of didesmethylpromazine, promazine N-oxide, 2-hydroxypromazine, promazine sulfoxide, monodesmethylpromazine sulfoxide, didesmethylchlorpromazine, chlorpromazine N-oxide, and chlorpromazine sulfoxide to bovine serum albumin was determined by means of sephadex gel filtration. 2. The albumin binding of these substances was characterized by the following parameters: the percentage α of free substance, the percentage β of bound substance, the binding constants K1, k+ and m, the number of binding sites per albumin molecule, and the free binding energy ΔFo. 3. The partition coefficients between n-octanol and buffer solution, pH 7.40, were measured for the above mentioned metabolites…
Influence of gel composition in the synthesis of MoVTeNb catalysts over their catalytic performance in partial propane and propylene oxidation
2010
[EN] MoVTeNb mixed oxides catalysts have been prepared by a slurry method with different molar compositions (Mo/Te ratio from 2 to 6 and Nb/(V + Nb) ratio from 0 to 0.7) in the synthesis gel leading to different crystalline phases distribution and catalytic behaviour in the partial oxidation of both propane and propylene to acrylic acid. Chemical analysis indicates that the composition of samples before and after the heat-treatment changes, especially the Te-content, since a significant amount of Te is lost during the heat-treatment step when the amount of oxalate (from niobium oxalate) increases in the synthesis gel. Thus, the nature of the crystalline phases and the catalytic performance …
Accessibility of Protein-Bound Chlorophylls Probed by Dynamic Electron Polarization
2018
The possibility to probe the accessibility of sites of proteins represents an important point to explore their interactions with specific substrates in solution. The dynamic electron polarization of nitroxide radicals induced by excited triplet states of organic molecules is a phenomenon that is known to occur in aqueous solutions. The interaction within the radical-triplet pair causes a net emissive dynamic electron polarization of the nitroxide radical, that can be detected by means of time-resolved electron paramagnetic resonance (TR-EPR) spectroscopy. We have exploited this effect to prove the accessibility of chlorophylls bound to a protein, namely, the water-soluble chlorophyll protei…

Long-Range and Short-Range Structure of Proton-Conducting Y:BaZrO3
2011
Yttrium-doped barium zirconate (BZY) is the most promising candidate for proton-conducting ceramics and has been extensively studied in recent years. The detailed features of the crystal structure, both short-range and long-range, as well as the crystal chemistry driving the doping process, are largely unknown. We use very high resolution X-ray diffraction (HR-XRD) to resolve the crystal structure, which is very slightly tetragonally distorted in BZY, while the local environment around Zr4+ and Y3+ is probed with extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS), and the symmetry and vibrations are investigated by using Raman spectroscopy. It is found that barium zirconate shows some degree …
Polymetallic oxalate-based 2D magnets: Soluble molecular precursors for the nanostructuration of magnetic oxides
2010
Here we describe the synthesis and magnetic characterization of a family of 2D polymetallic oxalate-bridged polymeric networks with general formula [M(II)(H(2)O)(2)](3)[M(III)(ox)(3)](2)(18-crown-6)(2) (M(III) = Cr, Fe; M(II) = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni; 18-crown-6 = C(12)H(24)O(6)). Depending on the nature of the trivalent metal ion, they exhibit ferro- (Cr(3+)) or ferrimagnetic (Fe(3+)) ordering in the 3.6-20 K interval. In contrast with most of the oxalate-bridged CPs reported so far, these complexes do not need any additional templating cation for their assembly and represent the first series of oxalate-based polymeric networks which can be considered intrinsically neutral. As previously observed …
Subsurface nitrate reduction under wetlands takes place in narrow superficial zones
2017
This study aims to investigate the depth distribution of the Nitrate Reduction Potential (NRP) on a natural and a re-established wetland. The obtained NRP provides a valuable data of the driving factors affecting denitrification, the Dissimilatory Nitrate Reduction to Ammonium (DNRA) process and the performance of a re-established wetland. Intact soil cores were collected and divided in slices for the determination of Organic Matter (OM) through Loss of Ignition (LOI) as well as Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) and NRP spiking nitrate in batch tests. The Nitrate Reduction (NR) was fitted as a pseudo-first order rate constant (k) from where NRPs were obtained. NR took place in a narrow superfi…

Abstract. Hydroxyl (OH) radical reactivity (kOH) has been measured for 18 years with different measurement techniques. In order to compare the performances of instruments deployed in the field, two campaigns were conducted performing experiments in the atmospheric simulation chamber SAPHIR at Forschungszentrum Jülich in October 2015 and April 2016. Chemical conditions were chosen either to be representative of the atmosphere or to test potential limitations of instruments. All types of instruments that are currently used for atmospheric measurements were used in one of the two campaigns. The results of these campaigns demonstrate that OH reactivity can be accurately measured for a wide rang…
