The experimental efficiency of the high-mass analysis, for the two discovery signal regions SR-4b-meff1-A-disc and SR-3b-meff3-A, as a function of higgsino mass. The experimental efficiency is defined as the number of events passing the detector-level event selection divided by the number of events passing the event selection for a perfect detector. The denominator is obtained by implementing particle-level event selection that emulate the detector-level selection. Such particle-level selection is not applied on the numerator.

Functional characterization of ORCTL2--an organic cation transporter expressed in the renal proximal tubules.

1998

AbstractChromosome 11p15.5 harbors a gene or genes involved in Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome that confer(s) susceptibility to Wilms' tumor, rhabdomyosarcoma, and hepatoblastoma. We have previously identified a transcript at 11p15.5 which encodes a putative membrane transport protein, designated organic cation transporter-like 2 (ORCTL2), that shares homology with tetracycline resistance proteins and bacterial multidrug resistance proteins. In this report, we have investigated the transport properties of ORCTL2 and show that this protein can confer resistance to chloroquine and quinidine when overexpressed in bacteria. Immunohistochemistry analyses performed with anti-ORCTL2 polyc.onal antibod…

Matching beer with food : pairing principles, underlying mechanisms and a focus on aromatic similarity

2018

Pairing between beer and dishes emerges as a new trend in France. Beer promoters or gastronomy professionals need to offer high-quality advices in terms of beer and food pairing to their customers. Within this context, the objective of the research was to identify pairing principles and to better understand the underlying perceptual mechanisms. Determinants of food and beverage pairing were first analysed from experts’ discourses. Results showed that food and beverage pairings are governed by perceptual, conceptual and affective features, related to physio-chemical, perceptual and cognitive processes. Experts often mentioned “Aromatic Similarity” as one of the main pairing principles. This …

Elusive amines and cluster headache: mutational analysis of trace amine receptor cluster on chromosome 6q23.

2004

Cluster headache (CH) is characterised by unilateral pain and ipsilateral autonomic features. To date, no molecular genetic evidence has been shown for CH. Small pedigrees and low penetrance render the identification of the CH-gene quite difficult. Nonetheless the association of CH and migraine to a new class of amine, namely trace or elusive amines such as tyramine, octopamine and synephrine, has recently been demonstrated. In particular, in comparison to healthy control subjects, all these neurotransmitters have been found to be greatly elevated in CH sufferers in plasma and platelets both in active and remission periods. A cluster of gene-encoding G-protein-coupled receptors that bind an…

Segmental duplication associated with evolutionary instability of human chromosome 3p25.1

2005

Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) of human bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clones to orangutan metaphase spreads localized a breakpoint between human chromosome 3p25.1 and orangutan chromosome 2 to a <30-kb interval. The inversion occurred in a relatively gene-rich region with seven genes within 500 kb. The underlying breakpoint is closely juxtaposed to validated genes, however no functional gene has been disrupted by the evolutionary rearrangement. An approximately 21-kb DNA segment at the 3p25.1 breakpoint region has been duplicated intrachromosomally and interchromosomally to multiple regions in the orangutan and human genomes, providing additional evidence for the role …

Array CGH defined interstitial deletion on chromosome 14: a new case

2009

Interstitial deletions of the long arm of chromosome 14 are relatively rare. We report a 8.5-year-old girl with dysmorphic facial features and mental retardation associated with a de novo interstitial deletion of chromosome 14. The comparison between our patient and all published patients is reviewed. The genetic investigations have allowed us to define the critical chromosomal region and to start an accurate follow-up.

Dissipative lattice model with exact traveling discrete kink-soliton solutions: Discrete breather generation and reaction diffusion regime

1999

International audience; We introduce a nonlinear Klein-Gordon lattice model with specific double-well on-site potential, additional constant external force and dissipation terms, which admits exact discrete kink or traveling wave fronts solutions. In the nondissipative or conservative regime, our numerical simulations show that narrow kinks can propagate freely, and reveal that static or moving discrete breathers, with a finite but long lifetime, can emerge from kink-antikink collisions. In the general dissipative regime, the lifetime of these breathers depends on the importance of the dissipative effects. In the overdamped or diffusive regime, the general equation of motion reduces to a di…

Amine basicity: measurements of ion pair stability in ionic liquid media

2007

Abstract The stability constants relevant to the formation of amine/p-nitrophenol ion pairs have been determined in [bmim][BF4] solution, in the presence of butylamine, piperidine, and triethylamine, by using spectrophotometric measurements. In order to evaluate how the ion pair stability is affected by ionic liquid structure, piperidine has been chosen as model amine for studies in [bmim][PF6], [bmim][NTf2], [bm2im][NTf2] and in several [bmim][BF4]/1,4-dioxane binary mixtures. Data obtained in ionic liquid solutions have been compared with those previously reported in conventional organic solvents.

Proton-neutron pairing correlations in the self-conjugate nucleus 42Sc

2021

Collinear laser spectroscopy of the N=Z=21 self-conjugate nucleus 42Sc has been performed at the JYFL IGISOL IV facility in order to determine the change in nuclear mean-square charge radius between the Iπ=0+ ground state and the Iπ=7+ isomer via the measurement of the 42g,42mSc isomer shift. New multi-configurational Dirac-Fock calculations for the atomic mass shift and field shift factors have enabled a recalibration of the charge radii of the 42−46Sc isotopes which were measured previously. While consistent with the treatment of proton-neutron, proton-proton and neutron-neutron pairing on an equal footing, the reduction in size for the isomer is observed to be of a significantly larger m…
