The analysis of poverty in Italy. A fuzzy dynamic approach

The commonly used criterion to sharply separate the poor from the non poor on the basis of a poverty threshold appears to be too severe in comparison with the nature of poverty. The latter is multidimensional in its components (domain) and continue in its states (codomain). Moreover an income-based poverty line allows for a remarkable number of spurious transitions below and over that line, which do not correspond to true variations in household’s standard of living. This study starts from the analysis of common (with crisp states) transition matrices; then a fuzzy multidimensional poverty indicator is built. Background: It still remains unclear whether problematic social media use (PSMU) is a cause or a consequence of psychological distress. The present study aimed to investigate the temporal relationships between PSMU and psychological distress through a three-wave panel study (between April and July 2020, with an interval of 1 month between each period of time). In the present paper, a new approach to the management of energy resources in a research laboratory is proposed and evaluated by a simulation for the PV installation realized for the Tunisian-Italian cooperation project DE.DU.ENER.T, using renewable energy and economic criteria. On the distribution of education and democracy

This paper empirically analyzes the influence of the distribution of education on democracy by controlling for unobservable heterogeneity and by taking into account the persistency of some of the variables. The most novel finding is that increase in the education attained by the majority of the population is what matters for the implementation and sustainability of democracy, rather than the average years of schooling. We show this result is robust to issues pertaining omitted variables, outliers, sample selection, or a narrow definition of the variables used to measure democracy.

Darba mērķis ir noteikt optimālo saules paneļu izvietojuma veidu Latvijas klimatiskajos apstākļos. Pētot divu veidu saules paneļus, kas novietoti piecās dažādās telpiskajās orientācijās Latvijas Universitātes Botāniskā dārza teritorijā, tiek noteikta solāro paneļu efektivitātes atkarība no šiem parametriem: Saules paneļu tips (JA vai LG); Telpiskā orientācija (R.13, A.13, D.13, D.40, D.90); Gada mēnesis (janvāris - aprīlis); Meteoroloģiskie apstākļi (saules apstarojums). Iegūtie monitoringa rezultāti tiek analizēti kontekstā ar saules izstarojuma intensitāti, paneļu potenciālās efektivitātes fizikālo novērtējumu un citu mērījumu rezultātiem. The Global Side of the Investments-Savings Puzzle

In this paper we re-examine the long standing and puzzling correlation between national savings and investment in industrial countries. We apply an econometric methodology that allows us to separate idiosyncratic correlation at the country level from correlation at the global level. In a major break with the existing literature, we find no evidence of a long run relationship in the idiosyncratic components of savings and investment. We also find that the global components in savings and investments commove, indicating that they react to shocks of a global nature.
