Transmissible vector diseases: representations, behaviors and personal involvement in health and environment after the chikungunya epidemic

2011

As part of the ANTHROPO-MTV research project (ANR SEST program), we focused on common sense thinking about vector-borne diseases, using the example of chikungunya, through an interdisciplinary quantitative survey carried out at Meeting. Here we present the results from the psychosocial component. The survey was conducted by questionnaire in November 2007 among 415 households. It was preceded by interviews with inhabitants of the island and with various institutional and health professionals. These interviews were supplemented by field observations, in particular during the prevention operations of LAV teams from the DRASS. In terms of results: We have identified the social representations o…

Association of military training with oxidative stress and overreaching.

2011

ABSTRACT: We hypothesized that increased oxidative stress and disrupted redox balance may be predisposing factors and markers for overreaching (OR). Purpose: The study's purpose was to examine whether oxidative stress markers and antioxidant status and physical fitness are related to OR during an 8-wk military basic training (BT) period. Methods: Oxidative stress and antioxidant status were evaluated in the beginning and after 4 and 7 wk of training in 35 males (age = 19.7 ± 0.3 yr) at rest and immediately after a 45-min submaximal exercise. Physical activity (PA) was monitored by an accelerometer throughout BT. Indicators of OR were also examined. Results: From baseline to week 4, increase…

2016

AbstractThis article analyses Finnish higher education institutions’ reception of the implementation of the new quality assurance systems that governments participating in the Bologna Process have committed to establishing in the Berlin Communique of 2003. The data were collected using a web survey and the respondents were classified with a cluster analysis. The reception was more positive in the polytechnics than in the research universities and women were more positive than men. People working in managerial positions were most positive about, and committed to, quality assurance. Most critical were young researchers in research universities working in temporary jobs. Some opinions were so …

L'audience et l'influence d'une revue mesurée à travers Internet : une application à Finance Contrôle Stratégie

2009

This article aims to show the interest of statistics available on the Internet concerning consultations of abstracts, downloads and citations of articles to assess the attractiveness and influence of a scientific review. This interest is illustrated by the case of the review Finance Contrôle Stratégie on the basis of the statistics provided by Repec and Publish or Perish. Beyond the findings that confirm the good performance of FCS and the usefulness of these statistics for the management of a scientific review, the article also provides insights into the life cycle of an article and the choice of the language of publication.
