The influence of solid retention time on IFAS-MBR systems: analysis of system behavior.

A University of Cape Town Integrated Fixed-Film Activated Sludge Membrane Bioreactor (UCT-IFAS-MBR) pilot plant was operated at different values of the sludge retention time (SRT). Three SRTs were investigated at different durations: indefinitely, 30 and 15 days. The organic carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus removal, kinetic/stoichiometric parameters, membrane fouling tendency and sludge filtration properties were assessed. The findings showed that by decreasing the SRT, the pilot plant could maintain excellent carbon removal efficiencies throughout the experiments. International audience; In the present pilot study, intradermal ID delivery systems with a BD microneedle from 1 to 3mm in length, and epidermal delivery (BD skin abrader) through abraded skin surface relative to standard intramuscular injection were evaluated. Circulating neutralizing antibodies were measured against the rabies virus after the Vero cells rabies vaccine was administered at D0, D7, D21 and D49. This clinical evaluation in 66 healthy volunteers shows that ID delivery using BD microneedle technology of 1/4 the IM antigen dose is safe, efficient and reliable, resulting in a protective seroconversion rate. In order to prevent hydrocarbon discharge at sea from ships, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) enacted the MARPOL 73/78 convention in which any oil and oil residue discharged in wastewater streams must contain less than 5. ppm hydrocarbons. Purpose: The purposes of this study were development and validation of an expert system (ES) aimed at supporting the diagnosis of chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD). Methods: A questionnaire and a WebFlex code were developed and validated in silico. An expert panel pilot validation on 60 cases and a clinical validation on 241 cases were performed. Results: The developed questionnaire and code validated in silico resulted in a suitable tool to support the medical diagnosis.
