There are so many reasons why the Peninsular War (1808-1814) is one of a kind chapter of our history. The deep politicization of the city of Valencia during this conflict explains the existence of cruel and violent episodes. These ones weren’t forgotten, but of course they were properly overcome through the years by other expressions of patriotism and heroism. So, the goal of this paper is to examine and think about the artistic expression of these violent events, their functions, evolution and, in conclusion, their lives. This work presents an interpretation from a phenomenological point of view of the visual and sonorous experience on the perception of the sea in the context of XIX century Valencian painting. The use of senses to generate images of the sea establishes a network of links between them that plays a key role in the comprehension and interpretation of its image. The analysis starts from the identification of an autonomous and separated poetics of the sea, focusing on the study of its immensity from the different points of view that its contemplation presents. En este artículo se muestra la relación del pintor Joaquín Sorolla con la Institución Libre de Enseñanza no sólo a través de las ideas sino también de su pintura. Para ello, se muestra como ejemplo de la importancia que dio Sorolla al paisaje, y especialmente, al paisaje de montaña,la obra "Vista del Guadarrama desde la Angorilla". This article shows the relationship of the painter Joaquin Sorolla with the Free Institution of Teaching not only through his ideas but also through his painting. For this, it is shown as an example of the importance that Sorolla gave to the landscape, and especially to the mountain landscape, the work "Vista del Guadarrama from the Angorilla"
