Poetry and anthropology: what do they have to do with each other? More and more often this pairing is invoked in the cultural chronicles, and even more often it is practised in the their actual performance: by poets less so, probably, but certainly by anthropologists, ethnologists, ethnographers or whatever you want to call them. Not without irritation in the academic establishment, always ready to defend traditional disciplinary fences, it happens - with an insistence that has become a trend - that much anthropological research acquires a tone and language, and therefore evidently contents, that overflow into the poetic, or that at least recall passages, styles and sensations that poetry h…
Francesco Buti, poesia e drammaturgia.
2015
The first part of this essay explains the poetry features for music of abbot Francesco Buti from Narni. The second one contains the modern edition of poems for Li Fiori, a group of polyphonic “villanelle” set to music and published in 1632 by the German nobleman Girolamo Kapsperger. Performed in a private concert in Rome, probably under the patronage of Cardinal Francesco Barberini, this work is the unique example of a music collection of 16th-century Italy entirely devoted to flowers. Buti’s poetry resumed the ancient Greek legends of the jasmine, violet, rose, purple anemone, hyacinth, narcissus and iris aiming at transforming them as means to enhance the catholic ethic. In some cases, e.…
2022
Abstract: This paper presents three brief reading notes on as many passages of the Filostrato (IV 51:1-8; IV 56, 4-8) and the Ninfale fiesolano (229, 1-5) by Giovanni Boccaccio, in the search for probable classical and medieval latin sources and models that have so far escaped the attention of scholars.
La poesia epico-storica mediolatina (secc. VI-X).
2011
The work is concerned with examination of the principal Middle Latin epic-historical poems written between the 6th and 10th centuries, from Corippo to Rosvita of Gandersheim. It is divided into three sections, the first of which is devoted to Corippo (Iohannis and In laudem Iustini Augusti Minoris), which represents the archetypical model of Middle Latin epic-historical poetry; the second then concerns the production of the Carolingian age, through analysis and presentation of four poems (Aachener Karlsepos or Karolus et Leo, De gestis Hludowici Imperatoris by Ermoldo Nigello, De bellis Parisiacae urbis by Abbo of Saint-Germain and Annales de gestis Karoli Magni by the so-called “Saxo Poet”…
Giovanni Marrasio fra Virgilio, Orazio e Properzio
2021

2019
The report proposes a reflection on writing in Levi, now understood as a "clear" practice of thought now, instead, as an expression of the irrational half of oneself, continually threatened by the abyss and by silence. Through a sampling of excerpts from poems, essays, interviews, novels, the complex relationship of the writer with the function of the word, liberating act, witnessing duty but also as a "dark" experience is shed light. Among the texts examined, those related to Paul Celan and his 'dark talk' allowed us to appreciate the ambiguous depth of the writing in Primo Levi.
'L'ADAMO, OVVERO IL MONDO CREATO' DI TOMMASO CAMPAILLA. UN CONTRIBUTO AL RINNOVAMENTO DELLA CULTURA SCIENTIFICA E LETTERARIA IN SICILIA
2022
