Doping dependence of spin lifetime of drifting electrons in GaAs bulks

2010

We study the effect of the impurity density on lifetimes and relaxation lengths of electron spins in the presence of a static electric field in a n-type GaAs bulk. The transport of electrons and the spin dynamics are simulated by using a semiclassical Monte Carlo approach, which takes into account the intravalley scattering mechanisms of warm electrons in the semiconductor material. Spin relaxation is considered through the D'yakonov-Perel mechanism, which is the dominant mechanism in III-V semiconductors. The evolution of spin polarization is analyzed by computing the lifetimes and depolarization lengths as a function of the doping density in the range 10^{13} - 10^{16} cm^{-3}, for differ…

Theoretical Evaluation of [V IV (α-C 3 S 5 ) 3 ] 2– as Nuclear-Spin-Sensitive Single-Molecule Spin Transistor

2017

In a straightforward application of molecular nanospintronics to quantum computing, single-molecule spin transistors can be used to measure nuclear spin qubits. Conductance jumps accompany electronic spin flips at the so-called anticrossings between energy levels, which take place only at specific magnetic fields determined by the nuclear spin state. To date, the only molecular hardware employed for this technique has been the terbium(III) bis(phthalocyaninato) complex. Here we explore theoretically whether a similar behavior is expected for a highly stable molecular spin qubit, the vanadium tris-dithiolate complex [VIV(α-C3S5)3]2–. We consider such a molecule between two gold electrodes an…

Theoretical design of magnetic wires from acene and nanocorone derivatives

2016

Theoretical calculations on a series of molecular models based on amino derivatives of linear and cycled acenes acting as organic linkers between two copper(ii) ions have shown a wire-like magnetic behaviour, so that the intermetallic magnetic communication does not vanish when the linker becomes larger due to its polyradical nature. Hence, these models can be considered as molecular magnetic wires, which can be used as active components for molecular spintronics, where the information transport is based on spin carriers instead of the more conventional charge transport. The nature of the spin ground state along these two series of models is governed by the topology of the organic linker, i…

Noncritical quadrature squeezing through spontaneous polarization symmetry breaking

2010

We discuss the possibility of generating noncritical quadrature squeezing by spontaneous polarization symmetry breaking. We first consider Type II frequency-degenerate optical parametric oscillators but discard them for a number of reasons. Then we propose a four-wave-mixing cavity, in which the polarization of the output mode is always linear but has an arbitrary orientation. We show that in such a cavity, complete noise suppression in a quadrature of the output field occurs, irrespective of the parameter values.

Relaxation of Electron Spin during High-Field Transport in GaAs Bulk

2011

A semiclassical Monte Carlo approach is adopted to study the multivalley spin depolarization of drifting electrons in a doped n-type GaAs bulk semiconductor, in a wide range of lattice temperature ($40<T_L<300$ K) and doping density ($10^{13}<n<10^{16}$cm$^{-3}$). The decay of the initial non-equilibrium spin polarization of the conduction electrons is investigated as a function of the amplitude of the driving static electric field, ranging between 0.1 and 6 kV/cm, by considering the spin dynamics of electrons in both the $\Gamma$ and the upper valleys of the semiconductor. Doping density considerably affects spin relaxation at low temperature and weak intensity of the driving electric fiel…

endo-Functionalized molecular tubes : selective encapsulation of neutral molecules in non-polar media

2016

Four endo-functionalized molecular tubes with urea/thiourea groups in the deep cavities have been synthesized, and their binding ability to neutral molecules studied. Very high binding affinity and selectivity have been achieved, which are rationalized by invoking the shape and electrostatic complementarity and dipole alignment.
