Synthesis of copper(II) and gold(III) bis(NHC)-pincer complexes
2016
Abstract CuII and AuIII chlorido complexes bearing the bis(NHC) carbazolide pincer ligand (bimca) were synthesized by transmetallation from the respective lithium complex [Li(bimca)] (NHC=N-heterocyclic carbene). In the case of copper, two different molecular structures were obtained depending on the copper source. With Cu(II) chloride the paramagnetic mononuclear [Cu(bimca)Cl] complex is formed and has been characterized by EPR spectroscopy and X-ray structure analysis, while copper(I) chloride leads under oxidation to a dinuclear structure in which two cationic [CuII(bimca)] moieties are bridged by one chlorido ligand. The positive charge is compensated by the [CuCl2]− counter ion, as pro…
An Entry to Mixed NHC-Fischer Carbene Complexes and Zwitterionic Group 6 Metal Alkenyls
2016
The addition of NHCs to α,β-unsaturated Cr(0) and W(0) (Fischer) carbene complexes is strongly dependent on the electrophilicity of the carbene carbon. Electrophilic alkoxy-carbene complexes quantitatively react with NHCs to yield stable zwitterionic (racemic) Cr(0) - and W(0) -alkenyls with total regio- and E-stereoselectivity. Less electrophilic aminocarbenes react with NHCs to promote the displacement of a CO ligand and yield "mixed" NHC/Fischer biscarbenes in a process that is unprecedented in group 6 metal-carbene chemistry. In fact, the compounds prepared, are some of the scarce examples of Fischer bisylidenes reported in the literature. The electrochemistry of the zwitterionic Cr(0) …
A rare polymeric azido-bridged copper(II) chain with a pentameric repeating unit: Synthesis, structure and magnetic properties
2013
International audience; The novel polymeric chain copper(II) complex [Cu4(μ-Mesalpn)2(μ1,1,1-N3)2(μ1,1-N3)2Cu]n (1) was prepared by the reaction of Cu(NO3)2·3H2O with Mesalpn in the presence of an excess of NaN3. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study showed an unusual 1D polymeric chain based on pentanuclear Cu5 units with both μ1,1,1-N3 and μ1,1-N3 bridges, and with three independent Cu(II) ions presenting three different coordination numbers (4, 5 and 6). The magnetic susceptibility data show the presence of dominant anti-ferromagnetic interactions.
Supramolecular open-framework architectures based on dicarboxylate H-bond acceptors and polytopic cations with three/four N–H+donor units
2015
International audience; Supramolecular assemblages based on anionic H-acceptors and cationic H-donors have been envisioned to elaborate open frameworks maintained by ionic H-bonds. Combinations of di-anionic chloranilate (CA2-), oxalate (Ox2-), or terephthalate (BDC2-) and trisimidazolium or tetrapyridinium derivatives (three and four N-H+ donors, respectively) yielded five architectures of formulae [(H3TrIB)(CA)1.5[middle dot]2DMF[middle dot]2.5H2O] (1), [(H4Tetrapy)(CA)2[middle dot]3DMF] (2), [(H3TrIB)(HOx)(Ox)[middle dot]5H2O] (3), [(H4Tetrapy)(Ox)2[middle dot]5H2O] (4), and [(H4Tetrapy)(BDC)2(H2O)[middle dot]1DMF[middle dot]3H2O] (5) (with TrIB = 1,3,5-trisimidazolylbenzene and Tetrapy …

Variable Cooperative Interactions in the Pressure and Thermally Induced Multistep Spin Transition in a Two-Dimensional Iron(II) Coordination Polymer
2020
Two types of experiments conducted to investigate the effect of pressure on the spin crossover (SCO) properties of the 2D Fe(II) coordination polymer formulated {Fe[bipy(ttr)2]}n are reported, namely, (1) magnetic measurements performed at variable temperature and at fixed pressure and (2) visible spectroscopy at variable pressure and fixed temperature. The magnetic experiments carried out under a hydrostatic pressure constraint of 0.04, 0.08, and 0.8 GPa reveal a two-step spin transition behavior. The characteristic critical temperatures of the spin transition are shifted upward in temperature as pressure increases. The slope of the straight-line of the Tc vs P plot, dTc/dP, is 775 K/GPa a…
Insight into the Mechanism of Water Adsorption/Desorption in Hydrophilic Viologen-Carboxylate Based PCP
2017
A water stable and highly hydrophilic porous coordination polymer based on viologen-carboxylate type ligand, the 4,4′-bipyridinium,1,1-bis(3-carboxyphenyl) (pc2), is obtained by the solvothermal method: [Cd3(pc2) (BTC)2(H2O)2]·6H2O ([1(H2O)2]·6H2O; BTC3– = 1,3,5-carboxybenzene). Its crystal structure and the ones of two partially dehydrated phases have been determined, allowing insight into the mechanism of water adsorption/desorption of this PCP material. It is shown that the dehydrated compound [1] first adsorbs two water molecules which fill the pores, leading to [1]·2H2O. On the other hand, the partial dehydration of the as-synthesized compound leads to the intermediate phase [1(H2O)]·3…
A novel two-dimensional organostannoxane coordination network promoted by phenazine: Synthesis, characterization and X-ray structure of
2009
Abstract Reaction of the dimeric hydroxo di-n-butylstannane trifluoromethanesulfonato complex [n-Bu2Sn(μ-OH)(H2O)0.5(η1-O3SCF3)]2 (1) with phenazine (C12H8N2, Phz) (2) in dichloromethane at room temperature in a 1:3 molar ratio yielded the novel two-dimensional organometallic coordination polymer 2 ∞ { [ n - Bu 2 ( μ -OH ) SnOSn ( μ - η 2 - O 3 SCF 3 ) n - Bu 2 ] 2 [ n - Bu 2 ( μ -OH ) SnOSn ( η 1 - O 3 SCF 3 ) n - Bu 2 ] 2 } (3), together with the phenazinium trifluoromethanesulfonate salt [C12H9N2]+ [CF3SO3]−, crystallographically isolated in two different structural arrangements, free 4 and in π–π aromatic stacking interaction with independent intercalated non-protonated phenazine molecu…

Insights into the Mechanism of Anodic N–N Bond Formation by Dehydrogenative Coupling
2017
The electrochemical synthesis of pyrazolidine-3,5-diones and benzoxazoles by N-N bond formation and C,O linkage, respectively, represents an easy access to medicinally relevant structures. Electrochemistry as a key technology ensures a safe and sustainable approach. We gained insights in the mechanism of these reactions by combining cyclovoltammetric and synthetic studies. The electron-transfer behavior of anilides and dianilides was studied and led to the following conclusion: The N-N bond formation involves a diradical as intermediate, whereas the benzoxazole formation is based on a cationic mechanism. Besides these studies, we developed a synthetic route to mixed dianilides as starting m…
