Processing of RNAs of the Family Avsunviroidae in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii Chloroplasts

2007

ABSTRACT The family Avsunviroidae comprises four viroid species with the ability to form hammerhead ribozymes that mediate self-cleavage of the multimeric plus and minus strands resulting from replication in the chloroplast through a symmetric rolling-circle mechanism. Research on these RNAs is restricted by their host range, which is limited to the plants wherein they were initially identified and some closely related species. Here we report cleavage and ligation in transplastomic Chlamydomonas reinhardtii expressing plus- and minus-strand dimeric transcripts of representative members of the family Avsunviroidae . Despite the absence of viroid RNA-RNA transcription, the C. reinhardtii -bas…

On the measurement of bubble size distribution in gas–liquid contactors via light sheet and image analysis

2010

Abstract Particle image velocimetry techniques coupled with advanced image processing tools are receiving an increasing interest for measuring flow quantities and local bubble-size distributions in gas–liquid mechanically agitated vessels. When trying to analyze image information the problem arises that bubble sizes are generally underestimated, due to the fact that the laser sheet used for lighting the system randomly cuts bubbles over non-diametrical planes, leading to an apparent bubble size distribution even in the ideal case of single sized bubbles. Clearly in the case of bubbles with a size distribution the experimental information obtained is affected by the superposition of effects.…

Chromatin dynamics of the developmentally regulated P. lividus neural alpha tubulin gene

2011

Over 40 years ago, Allfrey and colleagues (1964) suggested that two histone modifications, namely acetylation and methylation, might regulate RNA synthesis. Nowadays it is universally accepted that activation of gene expression strictly depends on enzymatic mechanisms able to dynamically modify chromatin structure. Here, using techniques including DNaseI hypersensitive site analysis, chomatin immunoprecipitation and quantitative PCR analysis, we have analyzed the dynamics of histone post-translation modifications involved in developmentally/spatially controlled activation of the sea urchin PlTalpha2 tubulin gene. We have demonstrated that only when the PlTalpha2 core promoter chromatin is a…

Physicochemical stability of carfilzomib (Kyprolis®) containing solutions in glass vials, ready-to-administer plastic syringes and infusion bags over…

2017

Centralized aseptic preparation of ready-to-administer carfilzomib containing parenteral solutions in plastic syringes and polyolefine (PO) infusion bags needs profound knowledge about the physicochemical stability in order to determine the beyond-use-date of the preparations. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the physicochemical stability of carfilzomib solution marketed as Kyprolis® powder for solution for infusion. Reconstituted solutions and ready-to-administer preparations of Kyprolis® stored under refrigeration (2–8℃) or at room temperature (25℃) were analyzed at predetermined intervals over a maximum storage period of 28 days. Chemical stability of carfilzomib wa…

Immune evasion proteins of murine cytomegalovirus preferentially affect cell surface display of recently generated peptide presentation complexes.

2009

CD8 T cells recognize infected cells by interaction of their T-cell receptor (TCR) with a cell surface presentation complex composed of a cognate antigenic peptide bound to a presenting allelic form of a major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) glycoprotein (77, 85, 97, 98). The number of such “peptide receptors” per cell has been estimated to be on the order of 105 to 106 for each MHC-I allomorph (for a review, see reference 82). Viral antigenic peptides are generated within infected cells by proteolytic processing of viral proteins, usually in the proteasome, and associate with nascent MHC-I proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) before the peptide-MHC (pMHC) complexes travel …

Long-period grating assisted fractional differentiation of highly chirped light pulses

2016

We experimentally demonstrate the possibility to perform a fractional differentiation of arbitrary order on a given light pulse by propagation through a single long-period grating. A simple analytical expression is obtained also, relating the fractional order of differentiation with the parameters of the long-period grating. A secant hyperbolic like pulse of 23 ps time width with a chirp parameter of -30 was successfully fractionally differentiated to the 0.5th order. The proposal was corroborated experimentally and numerically. The device may find applications in real time phase recovery. Fil: Poveda Wong, L.. Universidad de Valencia; España Fil: Carrascosa, A.. Verbal learning and memory and their associations with brain morphology and illness course in schizophrenia spectrum psychoses.

2012

The California Verbal Learning Test and structural brain imaging were administered to 57 subjects with schizophrenia spectrum disorders and 94 controls in a general population sample. Cases had lower semantic cluster scores. Poorer verbal memory strategies were associated with longer duration of illness and heavier use of antipsychotic medication. After controlling for duration of illness, sex, and total gray matter, poorer verbal memory was associated with lower gray matter volume in the cingulate cortex, juxtapositional lobule, right superior temporal gyrus, and precuneus. After controlling for use of antipsychotic medication, there was an association between higher serial clustering and …

Détection de formes compactes en imagerie : développement de méthodes cumulatives basées sur l'étude des gradients : Applications à l'agroalimentaire

2018

The counting cells (Malassez, Thoma ...) are designed to allow the enumeration of cells under a microscope and the determination of their concentration thanks to the calibrated volume of the grid appearing in the microscopic image. Manual counting has major disadvantages: subjectivity, non-repeatability ... There are commercial automatic counting solutions, the disadvantage of which is that a well-controlled environment is required which can’t be obtained in certain studies ( eg glycerol greatly affects the quality of the images ). The objective of the project is therefore twofold: an automated cell count and sufficiently robust to be feasible regardless of the acquisition conditions. In a f…

Optimized Multipactor-Resistant Wedge-Shaped Waveguide Bandpass Filters

2013

[EN] Wedge-shaped waveguides present a certain advantage with respect to rectangular waveguides regarding their resistance to multipactor discharges. In this paper, the optimal configuration for the wedge geometry is investigated based on theoretical results, on a precise multipactor prediction tool, and on previous experience. In addition, design rules are presented, which allow us to achieve for wedge-shaped filters electrical performances comparable to the ones of rectangular waveguide filters, while at the same time improving the multipactor-free power range. As a proof of concept, two three-pole bandpass filters with equivalent electrical characteristic of 150-MHz bandwidth, centered a…
