Muon identification with the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter Read-Out Driver for Level-2 trigger purposes

The Hadronic Tile Calorimeter (TileCal) at the ATLAS experiment is a detector made out of iron as passive medium and plastic scintillating tiles as active medium. The light produced by the particles is converted to electrical signals which are digitized in the front-end electronics and sent to the back-end system. The main element of the back-end electronics are the VME 9U Read-Out Driver (ROD) boards, responsible of data management, processing and transmission. A total of 32 ROD boards, placed in the data acquisition chain between Level-1 and Level-2 trigger, are needed to read out the whole calorimeter. Time-resolved fluorescence and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies were used to investigate the lateral organization of lipids in compositionally uniform and fully equilibrated 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-phosphatidylcholine/cholesterol (POPC/CHOL) liposomes prepared by a recently devised low-temperature trapping method. Independent fluorescence decay lifetime and rotational dynamics parameters of diphenylhexatriene (DPH) chain-labeled phosphatidylcholine (DPH-PC) in these liposomes were recovered from the time-resolved fluorescence measurements as a function of cholesterol molar fraction (X(CHOL)) at 23 degrees C. Universal Design of Information Sharing Tools for Disaster Risk Reduction

International audience; Disaster information sharing tools are an important aspect of disaster resilience, and it is of utmost importance that these tools are accessible and usable for as many potential users as possible. In this paper, we evaluate the accessibility of a selection of tools for crowdsourcing disaster situation information. As our evaluation shows that the selected tools are not fully accessible, we provide recommendations for mitigation, as well as highlight the importance of further research in this area.

Abstract A large number of studies describe the many different functions of polyfunctional discourse markers like well in different contexts and from different theoretical perspectives. In the current paper, we propose to systematize the many different uses identified based on their position with respect to the discourse units they are associated with. Not only can previous findings on well be integrated into a single coherent representation of its uses and functions, but the positions with respect to the discourse units can also be associated with specific functions, thus shedding light on how the polyfunctionality of well is brought about.

Aggregation of Risk Level Assessments Based on Fuzzy Equivalence Relation

The paper deals with the problem of aggregation of risk level assessments. We describe the technique of a risk level evaluation taking into account values of the risk level obtained for objects which are in some sense equivalent. For this purpose we propose to use the construction of a general aggregation operator based on the corresponding fuzzy equivalence relation. Numerical example of the investment risk level aggregation using an equivalence relation obtained on the basis of different macroeconomic factors for countries of one region is considered.

On the loopless generation of binary tree sequences

Weight sequences were introduced by Pallo in 1986 for coding binary trees and he presented a constant amortized time algorithm for their generation in lexicographic order. A year later, Roelants van Baronaigien and Ruskey developed a recursive constant amortized time algorithm for generating Gray code for binary trees in Pallo's representation. It is common practice to find a loopless generating algorithm for a combinatorial object when enunciating a Gray code for this object. In this paper we regard weight sequences as variations and apply a Williamson algorithm in order to obtain a loopless generating algorithm for the Roelants van Baronaigien and Ruskey's Gray code for weight sequences.
