Some Methods for Nonlinear Multi-objective Optimization

A general overview of nonlinear multiobjective optimization methods is given. The basic features of several methods are introduced so that an appropriate method could be found for different purposes. The methods are classified according to the role of a decision maker in the solution process. The main emphasis is devoted to interactive methods where the decision maker progressively provides preference information so that the most satisfactory solution can be found.

Propagation pattern analysis during atrial fibrillation based on sparse modeling.

In this study, sparse modeling is introduced for the estimation of propagation patterns in intracardiac atrial fibrillation (AF) signals. The estimation is based on the partial directed coherence function, derived from fitting a multivariate autoregressive model to the observed signal using least-squares (LS) estimation. The propagation pattern analysis incorporates prior information on sparse coupling as well as the distance between the recording sites. Identifying structural difference in exchange matrices can be performed using either 'directed' or 'undirected' methods. Directed methods are based on the computation and comparison of column- or row-normalizations of the matrices. Multiple register synchronization with a high-speed serial link using the Aurora protocol

In this work, the development and characterization of a multiple synchronous registers interface communicating with a high-speed serial link and using the Aurora protocol is presented. A detailed description of the developing process and the characterization methods and hardware test benches are also included. This interface will implement the slow control busses of the digitizer cards for the second generation of electronics for the Advanced GAmma Tracking Array (AGATA).

Abstract Design considerations for a Φ-factory with a Luminosity of the order of 10 33 cm −2 s −1 lead to the concept of a multi-bunch round beam double storage ring with supercoducting solenoids for micro-beta focusing and beam rotation. Simulations of the beam-beam-interaction indicate, that significantly higher beam-beam-parameters may become possible with round beams. A rough draft design of a round beam Φ-factory is presented.
Auto-Adaptive Trigger and Pulse Extraction for Digital Processing in Nuclear Instrumentation

International audience; This paper presents a novel auto-adaptive method for pulse triggering and extraction. Pulse triggering uses a threshold that must be placed as close as possible to the noise level. We do this by means of an adaptive threshold level based on real-time noise level estimation. A dynamic estimation of the pulse length is also used for pulse selection. The proposed approach is largely insensitive to noise and enables autonomous extraction of pulses regardless of their shape, height or length. Power Corrections to Event Shapes with Mass-Dependent Operators

We introduce an operator depending on the "transverse velocity'' r that describes the effect of hadron masses on the leading 1/Q power correction to event-shape observables. Here, Q is the scale of the hard collision. This work builds on earlier studies of mass effects by Salam and Wicke [J. High Energy Phys. 05 (2001) 061] and of operators by Lee and Sterman [Phys. Rev. D 75, 014022 (2007)]. Despite the fact that different event shapes have different hadron mass dependence, we provide a simple method to identify universality classes of event shapes whose power corrections depend on a common nonperturbative parameter. Global bounds on the Type-III Seesaw

We derive general bounds on the Type-III Seesaw parameters from a global fit to flavor and electroweak precision data. We explore and compare three Type-III Seesaw realizations: a general scenario, where an arbitrary number of heavy triplets is integrated out without any further assumption, and the more constrained cases in which only 3 or 2 (minimal scenario) additional heavy states are included. The latter assumption implies rather non-trivial correlations in the Yukawa flavor structure of the model so as to reproduce the neutrino masses and mixings as measured in neutrino oscillations experiments and thus qualitative differences can be found with the more general scenario.
