Multivariate analysis in the identification of biological targets for designed molecular structures: The BIOTA protocol

In this work the new protocol BIOlogical Target Assignation (BIOTA) for the prediction of the biological target from molecular structures is proposed. BIOTA is based on the Principal Components Analysis (PCA) application on a matrix of ligands versus molecular descriptors. The application of BIOTA could allow to hypothesize the mechanism of action of a candidate drug prior to its biological evaluation or to repurpose old drugs. Integrated Simulation and Formal Verification of a Simple Autonomous Vehicle

This paper presents a proof-of-concept application of an approach to system development based on the integration of formal verification and co-simulation. A simple autonomous vehicle has the task of reaching an assigned straight path and then follow it, and it can be controlled by varying its turning speed. Scanning and deep processing of information in hypertext: an eye tracking and cued retrospective think-aloud study

When students solve problems on the Internet, they have to find a balance between quickly scanning large sections of information in web pages and deeply processing those that are relevant for the task. We studied how high school students articulate scanning and deeper processing of information while answering questions using a Wikipedia document, and how their reading comprehension skills and the question type interact with these processes. Multiple modes of cell death in neuroendocrine tumors induced by artesunate.

Abstract Background The paucity of effective treatment in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) encouraged us to investigate the therapeutic value of artesunate (ART) promised by its inhibitory effect against various tumors and broad safety profile. Methods We evaluated the impact of ART on three NET cell lines, BON-1, QGP-1 and NCI-H727 on cellular and molecular levels. Results Our results showed that ART induced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress through phosphorylation of eIF2α, which further gave rise to autophagy in all three NET cell lines.
