Automatic Volumetric Liver Segmentation Using Texture Based Region Growing

In this paper an automatic texture based volumetric region growing method for liver segmentation is proposed. 3D seeded region growing is based on texture features with the automatic selection of the seed voxel inside the liver organ and the automatic threshold value computation for the region growing stop condition. Co-occurrence 3D texture features are extracted from CT abdominal volumes and the seeded region growing algorithm is based on statistics in the features space. Each CT volume is composed by 230 slices, having 512 x 512 pixels as spatial resolution, and 12-bit gray level resolution. La Colonscopia virtuale (CV) tramite tomografia computerizzato multi-strato (TCMS) è una nota e valida tecnica alternativa alla colonscopia ottica per la valutazione della parete del colon e la individuazione di nuove lesioni. Lo svantaggio principale per la sua esecuzione è l’esposizione del paziente alle radiazioni ionizzanti. Questo è il motivo per cui linee guida raccomandano procedure di acquisizione a basso dosaggio standardizzate volte a ridurre al minimo le radiazioni di esposizione. Abbiamo retrospettivamente esaminato l'impatto in termini di esposizione alle radiazioni ionizzanti in base alla posizione del paziente e la durata della scansione. [1].

Valutare i cambiamenti della presentazione ecografica (US) degli epatocarcinomi (HCC) diagnosticati presso la nostra UO di Medicina Interna in tre periodi:1993-98, 2003-2008,2013-18. Il Gruppo 1 (G1) (1993-1998) comprendeva 174 HCC, il Gruppo 2 (G2) (2003-08) 96, il Gruppo 3 (G3) (2013-2018) 102. Sono stati registrati età, sesso, markers HBV, HCV, uso di alcol, alfafetoproteina (AFP), test di funzionalità epatica, autoanticorpi, ferritinemia. Primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the mesocolon transversum.

Primary malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) is a rare and biologically aggressive tumor. Differential diagnosis must include cystic neoplasms of the pancreas (mucinous and serous cystoadenoma or cystocarcinoma), cystic lymphangioma or mesothelioma and retroperitoneal haematoma. Making the right diagnosis preoperatively may be often difficult, but MFH may be suspected when a huge retroperitoneal mass is found at imaging in elderly patients. We report a case of a primary abdominal MFH originating from the mesocolon transversum.

Neurophysiological and ultrasonographic exams in nerve patologies: diagnostic work-up and monitoring.

Introduzione: le patologie dei nervi sono causa di disabilità nella popolazione giovane adulta affetta e motivo di contenzioso medico-legale per molti chirurghi. Obiettivi: valutare la rilevanza dell’ecografia del nervo e dell’esame neurofisiologico nella valutazione prechirurgica e nel follow-up post-chirurgico ai fini diagnostici, prognostici e di adeguata programmazione terapeutica.
