The main mechanism to achieve hatching asynchrony (HA) for incubating birds is to start heating the eggs before clutch completion. This might be achieved through partial incubation and/or early incubation. Even in the absence of incubation behaviour during the laying phase, clutches still experience a certain degree of asynchrony. Recent studies have shown that eggs located in the centre of the nest receive more heat than peripheral ones during incubation. This chapter discusses the effects of template ageing in EEG-based biometrics. The chapter also serves as an introduction to general biometrics and its main tasks: Identification and verification. To do so, we investigate different characterisations of EEG signals and examine the difference of performance in subject identification between single session and cross-session identification experiments. Nonnegative Matrix / Tensor factorization (NMF/NTF) have been used in the study of EEG, and the fit (explained variation) is often used to evaluate the performance of a nonnegative decomposition algorithm. However, this parameter only reveals the information derived from the mathematical model and just exhibits the reliability of the algorithms, and the property of EEG can not be reflected.
