Effect of residual stresses and their redistribution on the fatigue crack growth in cold-worked holes
2009
The cold-expansion process is widely used to enhance the fatigue life of structures with fastener holes. Various studies assert that the cold-expansion improves the fatigue strength of fastener holes; however, the improvement of fatigue life is difficult to quantify. The influence on fatigue life of cold-worked hole in a 6061-T6 alluminum allosy was studied by numerical and experimental tests. Fatigue crack growth tests were carried out to find the crack length and growth rates of crack propagating from hole edge. Thus, the cold-expansion process was modeled with a Lagrangian implicit code for metal forming to obtain the residual stress field. Progressive crack growth along the observed fat…

Impacts of oak deforestation and rainfed cultivation on soil redistribution processes across hillslopes using 137Cs techniques
2021
Abstract Background As one of the main components of land-use change, deforestation is considered the greatest threat to global environmental diversity with possible irreversible environmental consequences. Specifically, one example could be the impacts of land-use changes from oak forests into agricultural ecosystems, which may have detrimental impacts on soil mobilization across hillslopes. However, to date, scarce studies are assessing these impacts at different slope positions and soil depths, shedding light on key geomorphological processes. Methods In this research, the Caesium-137 (137Cs) technique was applied to evaluate soil redistribution and soil erosion rates due to the effects …
The expansion of a European feudal monarchy during the 13th Century: the Catalan-Aragonese Crown and the consequences of the conquest of the kingdoms…
2009
-Enric.Guinot@uv.es In the middle of the 13th century the Crown of Aragon conquered by military means the Muslim Mediterranean Coast of the Iberian Peninsula, incorporating it into the European feudal world; this resulted in the destruction of the Andalusí state and part of its society as well as in a redistribution of towns, villages, houses and lands among Christians. The historiography of some years ago emphasized the role of trade and urban burgesses in these new societies, but present opinion is more related to a long expansion of feudal society as well as the creation in Majorca and Valencia of a colonial society. Logically, the consequences of this process had also an effect in Catal…
