Abs…

Belief in God, Confidence in the Church and Secularization in Scandinavia

2021

We used the three latest rounds of the religion module of International Social Survey Programme to study secularization in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, focusing on belief in God. We restricted our sample to the affiliated with the majority Protestant churches and the unaffiliated and analyzed the trends toward disaffiliation and disbelief in God. Then, we studied the association between confidence in churches, religious/secular upbringing, and demographic controls with belief in God using multinomial logistic regression models. Our treatment of belief in God as a nominal variable allowed the inclusion of both the element of doubt and different images of God in the analyses. The trends towar…

2019

My doctoral work in the history of medieval art unfolds from a multistep process. Based on the initial finding pertaining to the pervasive use of an iconography of Virtues in the Middle Ages, something specific emerged: its presence in sites of government, as well as its common association with the powerful, be it in the civic or religious spheres. The powerful encompasses here individuals representing various types of government existing during the medieval era in the western world. These are kings, princes, members of royal families, religious and lay dignitaries, as well as tyrants and, on the other end of the spectrum, representatives of local governments. All these characters are surro…

Problemstillingen konkretiserte …

A critical analysis of David Coffey`s and Colin E. Gunton´s treatment of Augustine´s mutual-love theory

2009

Masteroppgave i religion- Universitetet i Agder 2009 Both the Catholic theologian David Coffey and the late Protestant theologian Colin E. Gunton treat Augustine’s Trinitarian theology in their work. One major common point of their treatment is the theory of the Holy Spirit as the mutual-love between the Father and the Son which Augustine developed. I look upon the two theologians’ treatment of Augustine’s theory and claim that the difference in their interpretation is shaped by their use and balance of the four sources of theology: scripture, tradition, reason, and experience. I support my claim through four main chapters organized by the four sources. Coffey uses scripture more freely whi…
