A primer for choosing, designing and evaluating registered reports for qualitative methods

2023

Registered reports are a publication format that involves peer reviewing studies both before and after carrying out research procedures. Although registered reports were originally developed to combat challenges in quantitative and confirmatory study designs, today registered reports are also available for qualitative and exploratory work. This article provides a brief primer that aims to help researchers in choosing, designing, and evaluating registered reports, which are driven by qualitative methods.

Crystal structure of the borabenzene–2,6-lutidine adduct

2015

In the title compound, C12H14BN, the complete molecule is generated by a crystallographic twofold axis, with two C atoms, the B atom and the N atom lying on the rotation axis. The dihedral angle between the borabenzene and pyridine rings is 81.20 (6)°. As well as dative electron donation from the N atom to the B atom [B—N = 1.5659 (18) Å], the methyl substituents on the lutidine ring shield the B atom, which further stabilizes the molecule. In the crystal, weak aromatic π–π stacking between the pyridine rings [centroid–centroid separation = 3.6268 (9) Å] is observed, which generates [001] columns of molecules.

Integrated Sustainability Reports

2017

Disclosure of corporate social and environmental sustainability, resumed in ‘sustainability reports', have occupied most of the attention of accounting thought and practice over the last few decades. Evaluation of ecological footprint and social sensitiveness is becoming relevant also for the investors. The chapter presents institutional disclosure concerning social, environmental, and integrated (financial, social and environmental) issues in a threefold perspective. The first is a historical one: after some definitions the birth and development of sustainability reports are presented to the reader. The second is a theoretical one: a paradigm or framework is developed for including what va…

Legitimointistrategioiden käyttö kuntien ympäristöraportoinnissa

2020

Legitimation strategies in the environmental reports of Finnish townsThis paper focuses on the legitimation strategies used in the environmental reports of the five biggest towns in Finland. The data consist of environmental reports published by Helsinki, Tampere, Espoo, Vantaa and Oulu. The results of the content analysis show that the towns use strategies whose purpose is to modify the public’s perception of the organization in a positive direction. The purpose of this study is to increase critical knowledge of the legitimation strategies in environment reports.

Spatial differences and temporal changes in illicit drug use in Europe quantified by wastewater analysis

2014

Aims To perform wastewater analyses to assess spatial differences and temporal changes of illicit drug use in a large European population. Design Analyses of raw wastewater over a 1-week period in 2012 and 2013. Setting and Participants Catchment areas of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) across Europe, as follows: 2012: 25 WWTPs in 11 countries (23 cities, total population 11.50 million); 2013: 47 WWTPs in 21 countries (42 cities, total population 24.74 million). Measurements Excretion products of five illicit drugs (cocaine, amphetamine, ecstasy, methamphetamine, cannabis) were quantified in wastewater samples using methods based on liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrom…

Crystal structure of isobutylammonium hydrogen oxalate hemihydrate

2014

In the title hydrated molecular salt, C4H12N+·C2HO4−·0.5H2O, the O atom of the water molecule lies on a crystallographic twofold axis. The dihedral angle between the CO2and CO2H planes of the anion is 18.47 (8)°. In the crystal, the anions are connected to each other by strong near-linear O—H...O hydrogen bonds. The water molecules are located between the chains of anions and isobutylamine cations; their O atoms participate as donors and acceptors, respectively, in O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonds, which form channels (dimensions = 4.615 and 3.387 Å) arranged parallel to [010].

Crystal structure of diethyl (E)-2-[(benzofuran-2-yl)methylidene]succinate

2015

The title compound, C17H18O5, was synthesized by a base-free catalytic Wittig reaction. The molecule consists of a diethyl itaconate unit, which is connectedviathe C=C double bond to a benzofuran moiety. The benzofuran ring system (r.m.s. deviation = 0.007 Å) forms dihedral angles of 79.58 (4) and 12.12 (10)° with the mean planes through thecisandtransethoxycarbonyl groups, respectively. An intramolecular C—H...O hydrogen bond involving the O atom of the benzofuran moiety is observed. In the crystal, molecules are linked into ribbons running parallel to thebaxis by C—H...O hydrogen bonds.

2015

The molecule of the title Schiff base compound, C14H14N2O2, displays anEconformation with respect the imine C=N double bond. The molecule is approximately planar, with the dihedral angle formed by the planes of the pyridine and benzene rings being 5.72 (6)°. There is an intramolecular hydrogen bond involving the phenolic H and imine N atoms.
