In Constitutional States security and individual freedom are often in conflict; in these last years, international terrorism, with its unpredictable attacks, has suggested a new way to guarantee the security of a community, even through the use of force. First of all, this contribution analyzes the meaning and the content of «security» (as a value, a principle, a right) according to the most important authors; the second section considers some of the most recent measures to prevent and combat terrorism adopted by the EU and some European States; some important reactions of national judges to protect individual rights will also be taken into account.
Childhood exposure to parental alienation practices: a socio-educational analysis

Abstract: Objective. To carry out a study about family alienation practices and the extent to which they affect minors as they are exposed to such practices. Methodology. A qualitative research approach is used. In order to conduct this research, a case study made up of five families who attend the Specialised Family and Infancy Service in Spain was carried out. Results and conclusions. The obtained results revealed the high degree of effect on the family members who made up the sample due to the conflicts that legal separation or divorce procedures cause. Il contributo analizza il quadro normativo comunitario e nazionale in tema di tutela dei minori non accompagnati. In particolare, lo studio si sofferma sui profili del diritto all'ascolto, disciplinato nelle fonti internazionali e nazionali, e sulla partecipazione dei minori, anche attraverso la presentazione di un caso studio. Pur nella consapevolezza dell''intrinseca complessità della questione, si ritiene tuttavia che occorra ancora, sia a livello europeo che nazionale, una maggiore attenzione da parte dei legislatori e una visione di insieme in tema di protezione del minore, che tenga conto della peculiarità della situazione del minore migrante.

The essay explores the “horizontal effectiveness” of fundamental rights and fundamental freedoms, i.e. the relationship between private law and the fundamental rights and freedoms recognized by the EU Charter, the European Convention and the EU Treaties.
