Inferential tools in penalized logistic regression for small and sparse data: A comparative study.

This paper focuses on inferential tools in the logistic regression model fitted by the Firth penalized likelihood. In this context, the Likelihood Ratio statistic is often reported to be the preferred choice as compared to the ‘traditional’ Wald statistic. In this work, we consider and discuss a wider range of test statistics, including the robust Wald, the Score, and the recently proposed Gradient statistic. We compare all these asymptotically equivalent statistics in terms of interval estimation and hypothesis testing via simulation experiments and analyses of two real datasets. [EN] This article develops a human-robot cooperation to carry out treatments such as sanding, polishing, etc. on the surface of a known rigid object. For this purpose, a vision system is considered to get the object location to ensure not only the perpendicularity of the obot tool to the object surface but also a smooth approach of the tool to the surface. In order to add flexibility, the proposal includes the simultaneous combination of automatic and manual modes of operation. Notes on wintering waders in the coastal humid zones of province of Trapani (Sicily). The coastal wetlands of Trapani still are of great national importance for migratory and wintering waders despite the dramatic reduction occurred in the last hundred years. During this research the author carried out surveys in coastal wetlands from Trapani to Mazara del Vallo, in order to estimate qualitative and accurate quantitative values of wintering waders. Modelling and simulation of several interacting cellular automata

Cellular automata are used for modelling and simulation of many systems. In some applications, the system is formed by a set of subsystems that can be modelled separately, but, in such cases, the existence of interactions between these subsystems requires additional modelling and computer programming. In this paper we propose a modelling methodology for the simulation of a set of cellular automata models that interact with each other. The modelling methodology is described, together with an insight on implementation details. Also, it is applied to a particular cellular automata model, the Sanpile model, to illustrate its use and to obtain some example simulations.

This article examines the theatre of George Sand and the relation that the famous novelist entertained with the dramatic art, for which she had a great passion but the processes of which she did never come out very well. Many plays were successful for the large audience but the critics were more cautious. Her theatre, all the same, marks a renewal of theatrical art for which George Sand will be always a careful promoter.

The Wood Sandpiper,Tringa glareola, is a regular wintering species in Italy. We revised wintering status of Wood Sandpiper analysing 75 sightings (99 individuals) from December 2001 until January 2019. Data were collected from direct monitoring in Latium and Sicily and integrated by bibliography and national/regional data base. The species is regularly wintering with an estimate population of 1-9 individuals per year (mean value 1.32 individuals/sighting; DS=0.71). Tringa glareola was recorded in 40 sites, 20 Provinces and 10 Regions. Preferred wintering places are in Latium, Sicily and Sardinia. Utilised sites during last wintering seasons are increasing.
