More Than a Technical Discipline: The Accounting Culture in Italy, A glance through the “Schools”

In consideration of the lack of a common understanding of some important concepts in the Italian culture of Accounting, this paper tries to offer an overview of the 'Accounting Schools' in Italy, with particular attention to their meaning among their contexts. It presents the main ideas of the authors of the classical Lombard School, the Tuscan, the Venetian and the Palermitan one, pointing out how the two elected concepts of azienda and ragioneria changed through space and time. At the end a critical synthesis of the whole is outlined.

Between the Holy Cross and Free Market. Addressing the Issue of Homosexuality in the Narratives of Former Students in Polish Schools

In the article the authors present the results of the research based on in-depth interviews with 22 young gays and lesbians, graduates of different types schools in Poland. The main goal of the research was to indicate how, in the opinions of the respondents, the issue of homosexuality was addressed in schools they attended and how these particular ways of treating homosexuality might be related to the wider socio-cultural context. Seeing reality through Einstein's eyes: a teaching proposal for special relativity

The teaching of Special Relativity is still a critical issue not only for students but also for teachers. In this paper, we describe the trial of a learning unit on the Special Relativity topic based on Minkowski's approach through spacetime diagrams, following the results in pedagogical researches in this field. The main innovation of our project consists of a mechanical instrument: it allows to physically and mechanically represent Lorentz’s transformations by hands, exploring the effects of a change of the reference frame. The adoption of wearable technology in competitive sports can be an advantage to performance and training. Athletes who use personalised data to quantify their performances with the possibilities of sharing with others may use wearables to reinforce the athletic identity.
