Diffuse ultraviolet erythemal irradiance on inclined planes: a comparison of experimental and modeled data.

Values of measured and modeled diffuse UV erythemal irradiance (UVER) for all sky conditions are compared on planes inclined at 40 degrees and oriented north, south, east and west. The models used for simulating diffuse UVER are of the geometric-type, mainly the Isotropic, Klucher, Hay, Muneer, Reindl and Schauberger models. To analyze the precision of the models, some statistical estimators were used such as root mean square deviation, mean absolute deviation and mean bias deviation. Exhaled breath analysis for early disease detection may provide a convenient method for painless and non-invasive diagnosis. In this work, a novel, compact and easy-to-use breath analyzer platform with a modular sensing chamber and direct breath sampling unit is presented. The developed analyzer system comprises a compact, low volume, temperature-controlled sensing chamber in three modules that can host any type of resistive gas sensor arrays. A chalcone-based highly selective and sensitive chromofluorogenic probe for trivalent metal cations

[EN] Anew chalcone-based probe for the chromofluorogenic sens-ing of trivalent (Al3 +,Fe3+,Cr3+,Ga3+,In3+and As3 +)overmono-and divalent cationsand anionsisreported. In the presence of trivalent metal cations,the probe was able to displayaremarkable color change from yellow to colorless that wasclearly visible to the naked eye. Retrieval of chlorophyll content and LAI of crops using hyperspectral techniques: application to PROBA/CHRIS data

Hyperspectral/multiangular data allow the retrieval of important vegetation properties at canopy level, such as the Leaf Area Index (LAI) and Leaf Chlorophyll Content. Current methods are based on the relationship between biophysical properties and retrievals from those spectral bands (from the complete hyperspectral/multiangular information) where specific absorption features are present within the considered spectral range. Evaluation of remote sensing of vegetation fluorescence by the analysis of diurnal cycles

Chlorophyll fluorescence (ChF) emission is a direct indicator of the photosynthetic activity of vegetation, which is a key parameter of the carbon cycle. This paper analyses chlorophyll fluorescence evolution at leaf level during a complete diurnal cycle in simulated and natural conditions, for two species under different stress conditions. Absolute spectral radiance of the ChF emission is obtained allowing a quantitative derivation of the fluorescence yield of the ChF, which correlates well with established fluorescence instruments.
