Bond characterization of monolithic and layered glass panels and ultrasonic tests to control glued surfaces

Abstract An experimental investigation is presented regarding the compressive and shear strength of monolithic and PVB laminated glass elements connected by acrylic glue. Ultrasonic tests were also used to control the efficiency of glued surfaces of glass panels. Twenty-four triplets composed of three float glass elements glued with acrylic adhesive were prepared to perform bond tests. Of these twelve triplets were made with monolithic glass elements with a nominal thickness of 20 mm, while twelve were made with layered glass elements 20 mm thick. Application of graphene quantum dots in heavy metals and pesticides detection

Graphene Quantum Dots (GQDs) were produced using electrochemical oxidation of graphite rods. Obtained GQDs were gamma-irradiated in the presence of the N atoms source, ethylenediamine. Both structural and morphological changes were investigated using UV-Vis, X-ray photoelectron and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy as well as atomic force microscopy. The ability of both types of dots to change PL intensity in the presence of pesticides such as malathion and glyphosate, as well as copper (II) ions was detected. Evaluation of carcass color at the slaughterhouse Expert notation is the reference method for the evaluation of bovine meat color, notably for quality. A total of 140 Charolais carcasses were scored at the slaughterhouse on a color scale going from 1 (too light) to 5 (too dark). These expert scores were compared to three types of instrumental data (L*a*b / RVB referential; image shooting with image processing / chromameter). There is an increasing interest of using ultrasonic guided waves to assess long cortical bones. In particular, a method of ultrasonic estimation of cortical thickness based on the fundamental flexural guided wave (FFGW), generally consistent with the A0 Lamb mode, has proven to be promising in vitro and modeling studies. Soft-tissue coating on top of the bone makes, however, the related in vivo application challenge. Abstract: Protoglobin from Methanosarcina acetivorans (MaPgb) is a dimeric globin with peculiar structural properties such as a completely buried haem and two orthogonal tunnels connecting the distal cavity to the solvent. CO binding to and dissociation from MaPgb occur through a biphasic kinetics. We show that the heterogenous kinetics arises from binding to (and dissociation from) two tertiary conformations in ligation-dependent equilibrium. Ligation favours the species with high binding rate (and low dissociation rate). In this work, the food quality of four international (Campas, Chaffey, Fino de Jete and White) and three local (Daniela, Torre1 and Torre2) cultivars of Cherimoya (Annona cherimola Mill) was investigated.
