The triple collinear limit of one-loop QCD amplitudes
2003
We consider the singular behaviour of one-loop QCD matrix elements when several external partons become simultaneously parallel. We present a new factorization formula that describes the singular collinear behaviour directly in colour space. The collinear singularities are embodied in process-independent splitting matrices that depend on the momenta, flavours, spins and colours of the collinear partons. We give the general structure of the infrared and ultraviolet divergences of the one-loop splitting matrices. We also present explicit one-loop results for the triple collinear splitting, $q \to q {\bar Q} Q$, of a quark and a quark--antiquark pair of different flavours. The one-loop triple …
New contributions to heavy quark sum rules
2002
We analyse new contributions to the theoretical input in heavy quark sum rules and we show that the general theory of singularities of perturbation theory amplitudes yields the method to handle these specific features. In particular we study the inclusion of heavy quark radiation by light quarks at O(alpha_s^2) and non-symmetric correlators at O(alpha_s^3). Closely related, we also propose a solution to the construction of moments of the spectral densities at O(alpha_s^3) where the presence of massless contributions invalidates the standard approach. We circumvent this problem through a new definition of the moments, providing an infrared safe and consistent procedure.
Construction of O-minimal Structures from Quasianalytic Classes
2012
I present the method of constructing o-minimal structures based on local reduction of singularities for quasianalytic classes.
On Automaton Recognizability of Abnormal Extremals
2002
For a generic single-input planar control system $\dot x=F(x)+ u G(x),$ $x\in\mathbb{R}^2,$ $u\in [-1,1]$, $F(0)=0$, we analyze the properties of abnormal extremals for the minimum time stabilization to the origin. We prove that abnormal extremals are finite concatenations of bang arcs with switchings occurring on the set in which the vector fields F and G are collinear. Moreover, all the generic singularities of one parametric family of extremal trajectories near to abnormal extremals are studied. In particular, we prove that all possible sequences of these singularities, and hence all generic abnormal extremals, can be classified by a set of words recognizable by an automaton.
Introducing Pseudo-Singularity Points for Efficient Fingerprints Classification and Recognition
2010
Fingerprint classification and matching are two key issues in automatic fingerprint recognition. Generally, fingerprint recognition is based on a set of relevant local characteristics, such as ridge ending and bifurcation (minutiae). Fingerprint classification is based on fingerprint global features, such as core and delta singularity points. Unfortunately, singularity points are not always present in a fingerprint image: the acquisition process is not ideal, so that the fingerprint is broken, or the fingerprint belongs to the arch class. In the above cases, pseudo-singularity-points will be detected and extracted to make possible fingerprint classification and matching. As result, fingerpr…

A Lebesgue-type decomposition on one side for sesquilinear forms
2021
Sesquilinear forms which are not necessarily positive may have a dierent behavior, with respect to a positive form, on each side. For this reason a Lebesgue-type decomposition on one side is provided for generic forms satisfying a boundedness condition.
Incoherent Dispersive Shocks and Spectral Collapse
2014
We predict the existence of incoherent dispersive shock waves and collapse-like singularities that occur in the spectral evolution of incoherent optical waves propagating in a noninstantaneous nonlinear medium.
Impact of self-steepening on incoherent dispersive spectral shocks and collapse-like spectral singularities
2014
International audience; Incoherent dispersive shock waves and collapselike singularities have been recently predicted to occur in the spectral evolution of an incoherent optical wave that propagates in a noninstantaneous nonlinear medium. Here we extend this work by considering the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We show that self-steepening significantly affects these incoherent spectral singularities: (i) It leads to a delay in the development of incoherent dispersive shocks, and (ii) it arrests the incoherent collapse singularity. Furthermore, we show that the spectral collapselike behavior can be exploited to achieve a significant enhancement (by two orders of magnitudes) of…
Cell-average WENO with progressive order of accuracy close to discontinuities with applications to signal processing
2020
In this paper we translate to the cell-average setting the algorithm for the point-value discretization presented in S. Amat, J. Ruiz, C.-W. Shu, D. F. Y\'a\~nez, A new WENO-2r algorithm with progressive order of accuracy close to discontinuities, submitted to SIAM J. Numer. Anal.. This new strategy tries to improve the results of WENO-($2r-1$) algorithm close to the singularities, resulting in an optimal order of accuracy at these zones. The main idea is to modify the optimal weights so that they have a nonlinear expression that depends on the position of the discontinuities. In this paper we study the application of the new algorithm to signal processing using Harten's multiresolution. Se…
